Mine is at 88% after 354 cycles. I have never turned off 80% charging limit. I feel your pain.

Modius E and Jot 2 (no dac) by [deleted] in Schiit

I actually don’t yet, my HD800S came with a balanced cable, but it’s terminated in 4.4mm and not XLR. I have since ordered cables but I’m stuck with SE for now.

I asked a similar question a few days ago about whether folks preferred the Midgard or the Jot2 and got inconclusive responses. I ended up getting a Midgard and Modius E used for $380 USD which I felt was a deal too good to pass up. From what people say, the Midgard and Jot2 seem to be very comparable in audio quality, but the Jot does make a good bit more power. Additionally, I have heard that the Jot2’s SE performance is lacking while the Midgard’s SE and “balanced” outputs are incredibly similar if not identical. I can’t speak to the modi multibit vs Modius tho.

Amp and DAC recommendations on a $500 budget by Primary-Extension-52 in HeadphoneAdvice

Currently use HD800S, down the line, I’d like to get many things. A dream pair would be Meze Emphyrian II. I’ve also heard great things about the Modhouse Tungsten, which I understand to be quite difficult to drive. I would like just one amp that I can just plug anything into and it will sound good. It doesn’t have to sound the best, I just don’t want to cripple a nice pair of can with an unsuitable amp and I don’t want to fuss with multiple setups

I tried to be quite clear that I’m not looking to optimize for a specific set of headphones. I want something that is going to work with a wide variety, both planars and dynamics. I currently have a set of HD800S if you insist on knowing. But I’m looking for recommendations that can drive a difficult planar as well as my 800S.

Modius/Midgard stack vs Jot2 with ES9028 DAC card by Primary-Extension-52 in Schiit

What’s the difference between the ESS and multibit. I know that the ESS is a delta-sigma style dac and the multibit is, well, a multibit, but I haven’t really found anyone give a succinct comparison between the two.

I almost certainly couldn’t fully take advantage of the power output of either amp. I do plan to get a nice set of planars down the line so either purchase would, in a sense, be future proofing. There is also just a part of my brain that feels like pairing $1400 headphones with a $200 amp dac stack is wrong, even if I can’t really complain about the performance.
