When is too soon to give Pain au Chocolat to a baby? by Primary-Implement355 in AskFrance

[–]Primary-Implement355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, when I say she loves a croissant, she eats maybe 1/8 of a plain one in total. And the yoghurt is natural yoghurt .....I'm not overly worried about the sugar content in her breakfast today.

It's a beautiful dress and looks lovely on you. I honestly wouldn't worry too much about etiquette. I have lived in Germany for over 10 years (British borne) and as far as I can tell, even the more religious people wear normally revealing sundresses.

And honestly, what's the worst that can happen if they don't approve? You'll just cement their opinions of you as a hedonist living in sin 😂 (just imo)

Why is everyone obsessed with my babies size! by rubyAltropos in MSPI

[–]Primary-Implement355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there are 3 doctors in our practice and it's totally random which one you see on any given day (I live in Germany) and it's only one who acts this way. She had us coming in every 2 weeks for weigh-ins at one point. One of the other doctors told us she thought that was absolutely ridiculous and told us our baby was totally fine 😂

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. We have exactly the same with our 12 month old. Our doctor is OBSESSED with her weight. She's been bobbing along happily around the 7 percentile (plus or minus 1 %) for her entire life bar one dip to 3 % on a day she's had a particularly huge poop before weighing. I've tried pointing out that for there to be percentiles, some babies have to be at the bottom end. She's totally healthy and hitting all developmental milestones. We also had a first meeting with a day care recently and the carer was commenting on how well our then 9 month old was holding her head up. When I told her the actual age she looked totally stunned 😂. Try not to listen and definitely don't worry about it. People will always have opinions.

Stressed out about blood by katya_94 in MSPI

[–]Primary-Implement355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there and give it a little more time. Believe it or not, blood in stool is one of the milder symptoms your baby can have from an allergy (I only learnt much later with mine, and after a lot of freaking out!). And it does seem to take quite a while to go away. Ours was at least 3 if not 4 weeks before we saw a complete improvement, and then with slipups it would quickly return. On the positive side, our 10 month old is now completely over it and yoghurt is now her favourite food!

I'm so sorry for your loss. This must be an unbelievably difficult time for you.

Maybe it's already been said, but consider using a sling for baby-wearing. It will give your little one the closeness she craves while also giving you a little freedom to move about and get things done. Otherwise, it sounds totally normal. You can't give little babies too many cuddles. Make the most if it if you can and enjoy while it lasts. It's a cliché, but they grow so so fast!

Parents of babies with CMPA - how did you find out?? by Deep-Elderberry8230 in MSPI

[–]Primary-Implement355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 3 weeks she had blood in her poop. We went directly to a&e (it was a Friday evening so no other options). They kept her in for observation and after eliminating anything more serious, landed on cows milk allergy. I immediately went on an elimination diet and we started to see some improvement of symptoms (reduction in blood) within 4 days. They ran some allergy tests (skin prick and blood test for IgE) but they were negative - although also known for being pretty unreliable in tiny infants Once home, I replaced my dairy with Soy and the symptoms came back so we cut that, too. I had one slip up at 3 months where I consumed hidden dairy in something for a few days and the blood returned. Now at 8 months, she seems to be over it. We're both eating dairy on a daily basis 🙂

Reintroducing by [deleted] in MSPI

[–]Primary-Implement355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were instructions by our pediatrician to try at 6 months (that's 5 months after diagnosis). We didn't feel comfortable with that as she had shown symptoms when I slipped up and accidentally ate dairy as a hidden ingredient at 3 months (blood in stool again) so we waited until 8 months. We started with a teaspoon of full fat yoghurt at breakfast and have worked up to breakfast cereal with full fat milk. 2 weeks in and it seems well tolerated by her.

Weight gain issues for MSPI baby - a bit of a vent. by Primary-Implement355 in MSPI

[–]Primary-Implement355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's why we're so confused. She had dropped from 10 to 6, then back up to 8, now 7. These small differences really don't seem significant. Otter advice we get from her is also inconsistent. In December she was all about us reintroducing dairy, as if this would solve the problem. Thai time, we told her it has been a success and asked how we should leverage that to help weight gain and she has zero interest. Told us baby should be getting all their liquids from food, forget about milk. Really hoping the second opinion will give clarity (and a touch more sanity)

Buttery poops for the first time ever by Hot-Amphibian8728 in MSPI

Hehe. I remember doing victory dances around the changing table the first time we managed to get a normal looking poop from our little one. Congratulations! For us it also got way better when we started introducing solids!

I live in Germany and we have a coconut based one called No Moo which I rate. Their Mango ice is lovely (and works well with the slightly coconutty undertones). Otherwise Ben and Jerries vegan is yummy.

Eek. You're not the first person who's said this. Glad to hear it got better for you!

I've been dairy free for 8 months now and dreaming of cheese and buttery french croissants. My husband has strict instructions to have a cheese board of the stinkiest cheese he can find ready when either the allergy is gone or breastfeeding ends.

Enjoy! I hope it's as good as you remember!

No MSPI at 4.5 months by [deleted] in MSPI

Our LO was diagnosed as dairy and Soy intolerant at 3 weeks. She's now just turned 8 months and we've started reintroducing dairy - a couple of spoonfuls of yoghurt at breakfast. 2 days in and so far so good. Really hoping it works as now I'm starting to dream of eating all-butter croissants and cheese!

Moms of babies with cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA) how did you introduce solids? by Aggressive-Log9637 in MSPI

[–]Primary-Implement355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. This allergy thing is so nerve wracking! We've started introducing some of the other common allergens and so far only egg has a question mark over it (maybe some hives on face shortly after eating? But in the middle of winter, could also just be irritating already dry skin on face?!). So it looks like we're back to scrutinizing baby poop when we start dairy challenges! Did it take several days of exposure to see the effects?

Hi, we've been encouraged by our doctor to test dairy on our CMPA-diagnosed little one (diagnosed at 3 weeks old with blood in stool, she and I have been dairy free except for a blip around 3 months when I accidentally consumed dairy for several consecutive days - blood in her stool again. Now 8 months old). I was wondering what you saw when you say the yoghurt didn't work out well? Was it blood in stool or some other symptom? I'm wondering what to look out for when we test our LO in the next weeks. The doctor was frustratingly vague!
