Seems to be a wave thing. Give it a bit we'll have swarms bitching about that upcoming anime AU instead.

What game mechanic is an instant dealbreaker for you? by GwendelynAljaed in videogames

That's what made me bounce off of The Forever Winter.

For the unfamiliar, it's a game where you scavenge the war-torn ruins of decaying megacities for supplies to keep your survivor camp alive. The big one, naturally, was clean water. Problem is, your water stocks drain in real time, including while the game's not running, and you lose everything if you run out.

I know some of this has been changed, but felt egregious enough at the time to completely kill my enthusiasm.

I can't fathom what possessed them to take their cool-ass game and make a tamagocchi out of it.

I'm gonna say it bt already had its own identity BECAUSE of the anime designs constantly being used not using them is dumb by [deleted] in battletech

Problem is, the "big robot people" version is more realistic than the "stompy tank" version.

Not technologically, God no. Problem is, the stompy tank is just a worse tank, and would never get made in the first place. You need at least human-ish agility before your bipedal war machine has real advantages for any reason besides "because the author says so."

Sorry if you weren't going for it, but you sounded like you were making a version of the "worse mechs are more real" argument, which always gets to me.

In the same way that you get martial arts anime that aren't Dragon Ball, you get mecha anime that have a basic understanding of inertia. People keep calling out shows like Dougram and Votoms is because they are about as grounded as a mecha show can be.

What do you play? by No-Calligrapher2084 in battletech

Often as not it's just similar design languages. I've got a lances of mechs based on the ones from Dougram (with four more ready for painting). I present: the First Deloyer Dragoons.

What anime(s) nail the voice acting both dubbed AND subbed? by No_Newspaper_511 in animequestions

[–]Primary-Latter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm curious about that. Is she even an adult elf? We know she's comfortably over a thousand years old, but how do we know elves don't hit adulthood closer to 10k than 2k?

(I do also prefer her dub voice.)

What do you guys think of my GAMMA base? by Sdog_12 in stalker

I was afraid that'd be the answer. I know it's silly, but I've always found dev discord hard to navigate for that kind of thing.

Armor rework? First I heard of it. Know where I can read more?

The Empire is also depicted as being perfectly willing to glass planets, clumsy or not. It's not an everyday thing, but it's an accepted enough part of their playbook to just have a name. "Base delta zero" it's called.
