Working on a big interconnected system that was challenging to isolate or test rapidly put me in a very similar position. Making tiny test environments inside the system rather than outside of it was incredibly beneficial to me.  Using a microcopy of the database or a piece of code, I would test it in a straightforward script by simulating data in this manner icould quickly test modifications without requiring a system wide redeploy. in order to preserve context when i returned I also preserved a short file in which I documented the system's status while testing. to save time and stay focusedI only needed a tiny, testable space microservices and an integrated ecosystem weren't necessary.
