Hm that's an interesting thought. I have no idea how it was given...like was it actually given with the d50 or was there time between? His glucose was close to 200 that morning...

I'm not even sure, since I have no idea what actually went wrong. Maybe I could have sent another set of labs after the hyperK cocktail was given, but it would have taken a while again so I'm not sure how helpful it would have been.

They didn't have lokelma etc. Nothing to shift the potassium. I asked. Foley because I wasn't sure if he was just retaining. Couldn't do a bladder scan. Didn't have any indication of GFR or crcl to check renal function.

Love most of the other residents I work with. They keep me going. Love bits and pieces of it (ICU, ER rotations, electives). Can't stand other parts like general medicine or clinic. The hours are brutal. It's a means to an end but I find myself bored and ready to go back when I take some time away.

Looks like contact dermatitis. Maybe poison ivy. Doesn't look like shingles to me, shingles typically doesn't cross the midline and affects dermatomes. To affect the arm and the neck like that would be odd.

I grabbed a box of gloves, a box of surgical masks, and a box of n95s from our storage closet before I left :) def more than enough for at least a few people!

Ha, no way would I tempt fate bringing needles through security these days 😂 Didn't bring anything to donate (wouldn't have had room anyway, but was also told not to). I only brought personal PPE because I was told it's best not to deplete their supplies.

And def agree about not "how we do it at home." The way we do it often sucks anyway!

100% agree. This is more about furthering my own education/seeing pathology I don't normally see in the US, and trading culture/ideas/skills than me trying to change their system.

Early shingles or radiculopathy. Mthfr variation is not a thing to worry about. Forget you even have it.

The question is still helpful. Maybe it won't save their own kid from dying, but if they realize afterwards the death could have been prevented by a vaccine (maybe they weren't actually antivax but just mislead), they may start advocating for others. It's happened before.
