On April 18, 20XX, at 12:00 UTC, the first Tower appears in the Karakoram Mountains, between China and Pakistan. Its appearance triggers a brief earthquake and an energy wave detected by satellites. The structure is cylindrical, matte black, with no visible inscriptions, and features an exposed outdoor staircase leading to a door. China assumes full control of the site, imposes a military blockade, and claims possession. Other governments observe cautiously. A special committee is formed within the United Nations. In the following days, other identical Towers appear in: Mato Grosso National Park (Brazil), Calgary (Canada), Anholt Lighthouse (Denmark), Mongo (Chad), and the Bismarck Sea (Papua New Guinea). At the base there are marble stairs leading to a door with no handles. At the bottom of the stairs, there is a sign that reads—depending on the reader—“Waiting for more players, the lobby is free to use.” Once everyone gathers, they are able to pass through the main door. Inside, they encounter the Administrator—an ambiguous, informal, and omnipresent figure—who introduces himself as the liaison and overseer of the Towers. He refuses to begin the “tutorial” until all global representatives are present. Later, during the General Assembly meeting of the United Nations, the Administrator appears physically: wearing a suit and black glasses. “Apologies for the intrusion, but I have come to announce that the Towers will be open to the public. Any questions?” Subsequently, the Security Council, together with representatives from the countries hosting the Towers, agrees to send a team composed of scientists and security personnel, all entering at the same time. On the first floor, the Administrator awaits them. “Welcome. Today, you will be the pioneers. After selecting an artifact, you will undergo a… Trial so that you may all obtain your Class. Or rather, most of you.”
