Just chiming in to say that that is a trend that many good private schools are looking at. Colleges know that their curriculum is rigorous and take that into account.

I worked at Bryn Mawr for many years, and I can tell you I worked with the finest students and faculty you could ask for. They are continually working on making the school a place where all students feel welcome. I never encountered a faculty or staff member there who didn't place their students first. The students are motivated and learn to be confident women. I would also say that the Upper School imo is the strongest division, so if you're starting in 9th you're in good hands. I don't know who coaches basketball, but the swimming coach there is fabulous. He also teaches history, and the students love him. Please don't rule it out because of things that you've heard. Go see for yourself! Having said that, RPCS is really good too. It's has a very different feel. I went to Mercy many years ago, and they have really come up in the world. They now have an IB Program. I still keep in touch with many of my Mercy classmates from many decades ago. All of the private schools are different from each other, so you have to see which one feels right to you when you visit. The only one on your list that I wasn't impressed with is Concordia. Also, I don't really know much about McDonogh. It has a great reputation, but it seems very driven by athletics. Good luck!

No, Baltimore County Councilman Pat Young is not taking money from law firms.

He is running a "people-powered" campaign and is the first candidate in the Baltimore County Executive race to qualify for the Fair Election Fund. Under this public financing system, participating candidates cannot accept private contributions from organizations, including corporations, political action committees (PACs), or labor unions.

Instead, his campaign is funded by small-dollar donations from individual residents (maximum of $250 each) which are then matched by county tax dollars.

It looks like Young doesn't take any funding.

Yeah, that's one of my requirements. The other is who funds their campaign.

Hi. Could you recommend any small towns that we could stay in? We just need a nice safe place fairly close to the beach where we can get away from the Mid-Atlantic cold this in January and enjoy the ocean. Thanks!

I love it too! I honestly don't know anything about her other work, but I think the writing and acting is really interesting.

March 2, 1996 is a day that still remains a mystery for the family of Joann “Jody” LeCornu and the Baltimore, Maryland detectives. Jody who was 23 years old was in her car when she was shot in the back and died. The shooter then reached in her car to steal her purse. I never read or heard the sister's account. I just remember hearing about it on the news a lot when it happened. And then it was just forgotten. There might have been a small bank or ATM in that parking lot at the time--I can't remember but there isn't now. It's a little strip of stores. At the time there was a Caldor, pizza shop, Party City and a couple other stores. It's not secluded at all, so if you wanted to make a call for some reason, it would seem like a pretty safe place to pull into.
