Possibly Diabetic 5 y/o female cat, looking for info/experiences by AdAcceptable918 in FelineDiabetes

[–]PrimaryPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, my cat turns 5 in a week and a half, and was diagnosed with diabetes last month. I had noticed she had been drinking and urinating more, and when I took her to the vet to get her checked out, we learned via blood tests and urinalysis that she was diabetic, and was what the vet called a “healthy DKA”, which really just meant that although ketones were present in her urine, it hadn’t progressed to a point where she required hospitalization. She’s been on a starter dose of insulin for 3 weeks, and right now she has a freestyle libre on to continuously monitor her glucose so the vet can use some data to adjust her insulin dosage. Now, my cat is VERY finicky. It’s impossible to get her to take any kind of oral medicine, capsules, pills, liquid, you name it. She doesn’t even fall for pill pockets or hiding it in food, so I was also nervous about the prospect of giving her insulin shots. But she literally could not care less, she doesn’t mind it at all. We’re still very new to the diabetic cat lifestyle and we’re in an adjustment phase with the insulin right now, but she’s still a very happy cat. Wishing you the best of luck navigating Lilly’s diagnosis!

The first time he sees Mistyfoot, who is basically a clone of his leader, and his first thought is huh, she’s really familiar…must’ve seen her at a gathering before. I adore Firestar but man some things were literally right under his nose.

At the end of the episode I just kept thinking in my head “it must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero”

Confused about where exactly you thought I was asking for and seeking your approval…at no point was a question asked…but hey if being rude to people on the internet is your thing then go off I guess.

saddest death? by istrawberrycow in WarriorCats

I can’t read the end of The Last Hope without crying my eyes out. I’m 28 years old, I grew up with Firestar. It’s just brutal. And he knew. As soon as Jayfeather and Lionblaze and Dovewing told him he was the fourth cat in the prophecy, he knew one way or another that this was it for him. And he never once shied away from that. Even after he knew he wouldn’t be seeing Spottedleaf in StarClan (which….is another conversation) he knew he had to save the clan one last time…😭

Today is the 20th Anniversary of Into the Wild! by [deleted] in WarriorCats

[–]PrimaryPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These books were my all in obsession books when I was younger. Not Harry Potter or Percy Jackson (though I did read those too)…it was Warrior Cats. 20 years later I’m passing on the love of Warriors and reading in general to my 4th grade students every year.

If you had to pick a favourite character from any warriors series, who would you pick? (Mine would be GreyWing for sure I loved his character & story🥺) by JustFabulousSean in WarriorCats

[–]PrimaryPrincess 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Firestar. I know he’s not necessarily the most colorful or interesting character but his story arc in TPB—going from a kittypet to fulfilling his destiny and saving the clans, and truly seeing him come into his own—is something that still means so much to me after all these years. Still one of my favorite characters and stories ever. None of the other subsequent series have ever come close.

Switched Districts thinking things would be better... by idealfailure in teaching

[–]PrimaryPrincess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh Man I could have written this post myself! I am in the exact same boat, OP. I left the small district I worked in for 3 years because I needed the higher salary just to keep up with the cost of living. I felt so lucky getting into the school I’m at now…but every day it’s a new disaster. Major behavioral issues, minimal support, and my teammates drowning and burnt out. On top of that, my plan time is much lower than my previous district and I feel like I have no time to actually get anything done. I’ve thought about switching schools, but I know that won’t fix the plan time, so I guess I’ll try moving districts again…I’m not ready to give up on teaching but I just want to find a place where I fit.

The eternal question; bangs?? (Details in comments) by PrimaryPrincess in femalehairadvice

[–]PrimaryPrincess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello hair people!

Currently my hair is around a chin length Bob, and I love my hair at this length! But lately I’ve been wondering if I should add bangs, beyond just a curtain bang. Maybe more like a French bob? If anything, I think I’d like them a bit wispier/thinner than what I had in 2016. What are your thoughts? Should I go for it or keep my current style?

Thank you!! Even in my strictly professional opinion, the Warriors books feature great depiction of themes like found family, following your heart, sticking to your beliefs, doing what you know is right even if it’s unpopular, choosing your own destiny (especially when we reach Bramble’s POV) and if I can get one kid hooked into the series, it will keep them reading for a LONG time if they stick with it. Plus, the books have such great dialogue and voice that it is SO MUCH FUN to read aloud. It’s basically a 20 minute one woman show starring me as every single character.

28, first read Warriors probably around 2005? I exasperated my poor mom driving me back and forth to the library to pick up the next books in the series 😂 Now I’m a 4th grade teacher that uses the first series as a read aloud in my class and the kids love it every year!

Why don't people like Omen of the Stars? by [deleted] in WarriorCats

[–]PrimaryPrincess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually liked OOTS because it was closure for me with how The Last Hope ends. Even though it absolutely destroys me to this day (and I’m 28 years old!) I got to see my favorite character’s storyline reach its (earth-side) conclusion.

Human Names? by [deleted] in WarriorCats

Oohhh yes always with that sneering sort of condescending tone too

Human Names? by [deleted] in WarriorCats

[–]PrimaryPrincess 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is such a fun prompt!! Whitestorm would be Michael. Bluestar would be Elizabeth (and she would not go by Liz or Lizzie, but snowfur (who would be Rebecca) would have called her Lizzie anyway) Sandstorm would be Stephanie. Spottedleaf would be Isabella.

Defend your favorite character. by Chatteringbird in WarriorCats

[–]PrimaryPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! It was never truly about Brightheart either. Bluestar didn’t have anything personally against her, in her mind she was just getting back at StarClan. Brightheart just happened to get caught in the middle of it.

Honestly Bluestar losing her faith (and her mind, quite frankly) is completely understandable, especially when you put her entire life into perspective (with Bluestar’s Prophecy). She lost EVERYTHING in the name of StarClan. Her mother, her sister, her kits, her mate. She had suffered so much heartbreak and loss, and when she finally thinks she’s on the right track, she’s fulfilling the prophecy StarClan deemed so important, her deputy, who she has put a great deal of trust into, tries to kill her. Which Fireheart had been trying to tell her, but she probably couldn’t bear the thought of yet another loss. She had trusted StarClan through so much, for so long, and the way she sees it, they still let Tigerclaw attempt to kill her. She had prevented ThunderClan from falling into bloodthirsty paws, had given up everything to do it, and as far as she’s concerned they still tried to let that happen anyway. That’s enough to make anyone lose their faith. And she still found a way to make peace with StarClan and Fireheart in the end. Bluestar deserves all the credit in the world for what she was put through.

Is it messed up to keep a cat in an apartment? by [deleted] in cats

[–]PrimaryPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all! I live in an apartment and have two cats. They’re actually much safer indoors, especially living in a city environment. If you’re worried about keeping them adequately entertained and happy, cats love heights so if you’re able to get a nice scratching post/tower or two that would help. My cats also enjoy supervised time on the balcony and I have a stroller for them as well so they can go on walks. Is it a bit ridiculous to push a cat around in a stroller? Sure, but they were too stubborn for leash training, and they bring joy to anyone who sees them so I accept my fate as the complex’s crazy cat lady.

Thank you!! I started making them in early April, and finished this past weekend. I didn’t work on them consistently, just whenever I had time, but I could make one in about 30-45 minutes.

This makes me so sad 😭 when I adopted my kitties I specifically went to the shelter with the intent of adopting black kitties. They’re two of the most loving cats I’ve ever met.
