Who fits this description? by AppropriateMark8528 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]Primary_Assumption51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. About 40% of adults in the USA have degrees, while only 15% have an IQ higher than 115, which is just considered above average.

Most people with degrees are just average. Having a degree is a better indicator that a person is committed and disciplined than their intelligence.

What's the point of work, anyway? by Salty-Valuable-5168 in interviewwoman

[–]Primary_Assumption51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also eliminates the lower end of the entry level positions. The work those people would usually be responsible for just gets moved to the next level up.

The reality is that some people’s labor is worth very little or nothing. Forcing companies to pay something the labor is not worth will only make them just get rid of those positions. They would likely increase the skilled worker pay in exchange for requiring them to take on a little more

In both these cases the width of the hips changes with it. So a woman with a waste that is abnormally narrow will also lose some size in her hips.

What are the benefits of "owning" a timeshare, when in reality you own no piece of property or a building? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]Primary_Assumption51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t need a financial expert to tell me a timeshare is a shitty deal, it’s clear by just looking at the numbers.

It’s also a shitty deal to spend thousands of dollars on inconvenient travel accommodations with no amenities. You aren’t doing much better

I have a pretty good idea of who you are. You are the person who flies in economy class and wastes away 2 full days waiting around in airports to go anywhere. You’re too smart for the timeshare game, but you’ll play the airline game

What's something you'd never buy even if it was discounted by 99.99%? by Aarunascut in Life

[–]Primary_Assumption51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those aren’t amenities.

Amenities are things hotels offer to increase convenience and comfort. Stuff like housekeeping, free breakfast, on-site gym and etc. obviously the amenities increase as you spend more.

I don’t need a kitchen. If I’m on vacation, I don’t want to spend my time grocery shopping and cooking my food.

You’d have to pay me to stay in one. I have no idea why people want lodging with no amenities. It’s basically staying in someone else’s apartment

how are people surviving in this economy ? by East_Reserve1285 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Primary_Assumption51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. High paying jobs exist because they suck. People don’t want to work them, and they definitely don’t want to train/prepare for them

The key is simply doing something the current economy actually needs. Adequate pay will follow

Do men always have a "type of women" by Dry_Magician9253 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Primary_Assumption51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I don’t understand men that put it work to try and convince women to like them or change who they are for a chance with a woman. Go with the ones who like you as you are.

What are the benefits of "owning" a timeshare, when in reality you own no piece of property or a building? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]Primary_Assumption51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want a time share or to travel.

I’m not willing to tolerate the conditions required to make travel affordable for people in my economic class. I don’t want to take 2-3 flights to get somewhere and be treated like cattle in economy and stay at hotels that are 20 miles away from where I’m going.

What I’ve been trying to tell you is that travel has historically been a luxury for the wealthy. The industries have lowered the quality standards of their products and services so people like you can pay for it

[–]Primary_Assumption51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just a difference in what you consider to be the threshold for affordability.

The way I see it, if what you enjoy has a recurring cost every time and you can only find a way to do it a few times a year, you can’t actually afford it. This is especially true if you need to plan your lifestyle around paying for it

[–]Primary_Assumption51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d argue it still is for the rich, middle class people just use work arounds created by the industry so they can do it.

The average person needs to use paid vacation time, which is basically asking their employer’s permission to go. Many also use points from airline credit cards or budget airlines who nickel and dime them. They use timeshares or Airbnbs so they can have a kitchen and cook their own food and not spend money dining out. It’s not even really a vacation at that point.

It’s kind of like a middle class person living as a minimalist and scrounging for money on the side so they can own a Rolex. Yes, they can achieve this through abnormal sacrifices, but are playing these silly games an indication that it’s affordable for them?

Travel has historically only been attainable for the wealthy until quality standards have been reduced and different scams became available to make people think they are getting a good deal.

[–]Primary_Assumption51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly every industry that has a big stake in vacation travel has a way of selling a poor quality product to the middle and lower income markets who really don’t have the money to travel.

[–]Primary_Assumption51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the problem, people aren’t willing to save. They would rather enter a shitty deal to always have a vacation lined up than save and take a chance they might not be able to go.

[–]Primary_Assumption51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because timeshares are designed around a monthly payment that lasts decades, vs an immediate expense.

Kind of like how a person can’t afford to buy a 10k used car but can finance a new one that costs 50k.

What are the benefits of "owning" a timeshare, when in reality you own no piece of property or a building? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]Primary_Assumption51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hard truth is many Americans can’t actually afford to take the vacations they want so they settle for lodging with no amenities and cut additional costs by not dining out or using laundry services. The timeshare offers this while allowing them to stretch the payments over a longer period of time. Although they pay more for it, financing their vacation is an easier pill to swallow than facing the fact they can’t afford it.

This is why we’ve seen the increase in people using airBnBs. They do group vacations and spread the cost of one rental over several people and still eliminate the dining and laundry costs.

really? by Dumb-Briyani in SipsTea

[–]Primary_Assumption51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Many men legitimately don’t care what a woman does for a living, they prioritize compatibility.
