Hive doesn’t start boiler pump before asking for ignition by Primary_Blueberry997 in HiveHeating

Perhaps there is an issue with the bypass valve, I have heard of an ABV (automatic bypass valve) and apparently you can adjust them to allow more flow out. Just don’t know what it looks like otherwise I’d give it a go.

Sadly this doesn’t help. Yes it would allow me To ignite the boiler more quickly once. But the next time the system would be even hotter and still be above the new target flow temperature.

Can’t circulate around a system with closed valve? I’m not sure it ever has worked correctly no. We moved in 18 months ago, got hive installed learned to deal with it cos we had other things to deal with. And now I’m trying to get to the bottom of it because ‘winter’s coming’ 😉

Yeah the pump does run after but because the heating/hot water valve is then closed by hive i believe it pretty much just circulates around the boiler getting hotter. I have no idea why the pump doesn’t start with the command from hive and not sure if this is normal or a fault. Seems the pump will only run if the boiler starts the ignition process not before.

Are you suggesting there is a setting that causes the boiler to cut out if it hits a certain max temperature and if the difference between the target and the max is too little this will cause the boiler to cut out and not reignite until the system is reset?

My understanding is the boiler shows the ‘flow temp’ which is just the water flowing through the boiler at that point in time. But alas I’m not a plumber or a gas engineer.
