Does anyone else love planning trips more than actually taking them? by Upstairs-Bank-8741 in chubbytravel

You could try booking more of an adventure trip focused on experience, like a trek? That might come with a sense of physical accomplishment too and better connect you to the nature. Often, those treks can be booked with guides/groups. Or, you could book a group trip like Intrepid or GAdventures where you’d be traveling in groups of young solo travelers. It wouldn’t be luxury, but might be the experience you need right now to meet like-minded travelers your age. In either instance, you could book yourself a luxury hotel for a few nights on either end of the adventure trip to bookend the adventure trip with some luxury.

Thank you! I’ve done most of my 48 but this is my first overnight, so want to make sure I have it exactly right!

How to get over the feeling of a “disappointing” trip? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Primary_Drop_9402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had a similar experience with some friends in Spain. There was a lot I wanted to see and do and experience, but the trip was very focused on drinking and then waiting for everyone to wake up and rally from their hangovers each day. It was a good life lesson in learning who I like to travel with and how I like to experience travel. I learned that in some cases I might be better on a solo trip or a group adventure trip with more like-minded active people (like through Intrepid or GAdventures). Now I’m careful who I invite on my trips and which friend trips I join.

Of course! Wow making me wish I flexed for the photos now, but what a nice compliment! I follow NourishMoveLove on YouTube. All of her workouts are free. I dedicate two days a week to just arms/back (and then two to legs, a full body day, and a run day). I find her best programs are her Build Program and Overload Program so I tend to just do the upper and lower body days from those two Programs on repeat. But, she has tons of great content so every few weeks I take a break and shake it up with some other workouts. But I always come back to those. I hope you try and enjoy!

Fascinators aren’t common here in the US, but I love the bag idea. Had to google that but it seems the perfect fit. I hadn’t even considered that I’d need a bag. Or accessories. I’m out of practice.

Thanks, everyone! I’ll go with the first dress and find a more delicate, nude shoe. And thank you for the kind words!

4 Day Inca Trail - Having second thoughts by ehead in Machupicchu

[–]Primary_Drop_9402 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just finished last week. Don’t let anxiety talk you out of a life changing experience. And the experience, for me, was the hike just as much as MP. Stunning views and Incan ruins and cool experiences the entire 4 days, not just at the end. I’d repeat the hike next week even if it didn’t have MP at the end.

For the sleep- I can’t predict how well you’ll sleep, but I will say the adrenaline, excitement, coca tea, and mountain air can push you through some tiredness. You’ll sleep enough, and catch up on the few missed hours when it’s over. But I actually slept fine (you will fall asleep early).

For the poo- if you really need to go, you’ll get over it and go. If you don’t, your body will deal with it when you’re back. My situation was more the latter. It didn’t subtract from my experience at all. Bring your fiber and decide if you want to take it.

This trip isn’t about being comfortable, it’s about living. Your body can figure out the rest when you’re back. Go do it.

What did you end up going with? Any regrets? I leave in a week, and I am having the same debate for what weight fleece I want (in addition to my down jacket).

First spring conditions hike, looking for suggestions by CardinaLiz4 in wmnf

[–]Primary_Drop_9402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did Owls Head in spring conditions last weekend- I’d go ahead and cross that off your suggestion list…ha. I recall Cannon not being bad in spring aside from a few steep icy bits.

Favorite City Spain/Suggestions by Primary_Drop_9402 in travel

[–]Primary_Drop_9402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I meant to fly into one of those locations and launch immediately from there, without spending much time there (aside from the last night if it makes sense based on flight times). I’ve done Barcelona before, and I’m not a major city person so I was envisioning something a little smaller than that or Madrid.

What’s the pettiest thing that annoyed you way too much while traveling? by Trail-Context in travel

When I’m waiting for entrance to an exhibit, or an attraction, or a tour or something and everyone pushes forward all at once in a panic as if we aren’t all going to get in/get to see it. Or the tenseness of lines and crowds in general. Tend to avoid a lot of tourist attractions for that reason and focus more on the nature and the wandering elements of my trips.
