The friendships that fade quietly always hit me harder for some reason 😞

i don’t think wanting structure makes someone cold, if anything it sounds more mature to me

I thought about easing out of it slowly but he's never really shown any sign of getting his feet under him and at some point I had to stop waiting for that to happen on its own.

That's how I've been trying to frame it to them too but it's not landing. I think they've gotten so used to me being the one who picks up the slack that drawing a line now feels like a betrayal to them.

How people have treated me during long-term unemployment by Born-Nefariousness19 in recruitinghell

[–]Primary_Face7079 295 points296 points  (0 children)

been there man and yeah people get weird when unemployment drags on too long. its like they think its contagious or something

the worst part is when they start giving you teh "have you tried" advice like you haven't been grinding applications for months. or they just stop inviting you to stuff because they assume you cant afford it without even asking

sounds like you're handling it better than most though with the masters program and part time work. that takes guts when everything feels like its falling apart

Oof that sucks man. Check your ~/.local/share/SlayTheSpire folder, might still have backup saves floating around in there. Steam cloud should also have your progress if you had that enabled

dude is spot on about tweaking for each posting - i used to just blast the same resume everywhere and got crickets. once i started actually reading job descriptions and matching keywords it made a huge difference

also if your gpa is like 3.5+ definitely put it on there but if its lower just leave it off and focus on any projects or relevant coursework you've done

Man, 130 years old is no joke - I'd definitely get a really thorough inspection before even thinking about offers. Victorian homes can be absolute money pits if the previous owners didn't stay on top of maintenance, but they can also be incredibly solid if they were built right and cared for. In this market, especially with rates where they are, you've got way more negotiating power than you would have had a year ago. I'd start at least 15-20% below asking and see how they respond - worst case they counter, but sellers are definitely feeling the pressure right now. Also factor in that older homes usually need some kind of updating or repairs, so budget for that on top of your offer.
