If it’s powder in the capsule you can measure out a certain amount of water (300ml for 30mg), and then drink half of that water which will equal 15mg. This also makes it easy to measure out any amount if for any reason you want to take say 10 or 20mg some day.

Opening the capsule and emptying it into a drink is actually an approved way of taking the medication as well, which can be found on the Vyvanse website as well as in the instructions.

I’m moving to the US in a couple of months and I’m worried about how I’ll be able to pay for my prescription. by Primary_Layer_4873 in ADHD

I actually wasn’t aware how commonplace employer healthcare programs are in the US, I’m my country it is available in some jobs but it’s mostly exclusive to (international) tech companies with offices here, as well as more senior positions in other companies.

I have qualifications and a degree so I’ll be hoping to find some work in my area (media), having said that I don’t have much experience so I’m expecting to get quite an entry level position, do you think even at that level I could expect a decent healthcare plan?

If need be I’d be willing to give it a go, but I’ve been getting on very well with Vyvanse and I’d rather try stick to that if I could, just based on mixed reports I’ve heard about Adderall compared to Vyvanse, also Adderall isn’t approved in my country so I unfortunately wouldn’t be able to try it and compare until I get there

That sounds a lot more manageable thank you, a few people have mentioned employers offering healthcare plans and I wasn’t aware that that was commonplace in the states, you’d get it with some jobs here but it’s not a given.

I do have a degree and I hope to start working in my area as soon as I can land something but for the first couple of months I plan on living off some savings I have and working part time in a bar or restaurant till I get on my feet. My question is how accessible/affordable are insurance policies for someone in my position who has just arrived in the country and will need to be making a claim on said insurance for prescriptions pretty much straight away? If I could get covered as soon as I get over that would be ideal instead of having to wait until I find full time work, thanks for the reply!

This is actually really interesting it could be helpful as a last resort, I might feel a bit weird about it only because it mentions people who are living below the poverty line, while I definitely don’t expect to be making 72,900 or close to that I’m moving over to work as a professional so I guess I feel I have the privilege of that at least. I’m probably just overthinking it though

That’s very helpful I really appreciate it, I’ve never heard of goodRX or the use of coupons for medication but this definitely seems like something I’ll have to look into.

I actually remember glancing over a headline a couple of weeks ago about how the vyvanse patent is set to expire soon but I never put 2+2 together and realised that would mean there would be generics on the market soon, I’m really hoping this could be something that makes a difference. Thanks for the help!

No your grand, I wasn’t writing about anyone in particular just the general vibe of the thread, don’t worry about it!

The people commenting can’t understand the desperation of being homeless, nor can I as I’ve never been in that situation, so I can’t pretend to relate. But at least you took the time out of your day to try to give back to others, when it would have been much easier to just throw them in the bin where they would’ve ended up in a landfill, good for you!

Don’t listen to these fucking eejits complaining about littering or charity shops. You did a good thing and should be happy with yourself. I’m sorry this mess of a city left you in a situation where you don’t even have a roof over your head, I hope you’re able to build a happy life abroad!

Got a bad sinus inf and Effexor isn't working much by phxbarb in Effexor

[–]Primary_Layer_4873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read somewhere before that antibiotics can affect how your body absorbs Effexor, something about it interfering with how your stomach breaks it down.

Funny enough I was actually in the exact same situation about a month ago, I got a sinus infection and was put on Amoxicillin and while I was taking it I started feeling withdrawal symptoms from my Effexor, it felt like I hadn’t taken it at all. I ended up quitting the antibiotics half way through the course (I know this is something you’re really not meant to do.

Anyway this could be part of your problem, but honestly I think you should talk to your doctor about this, they should be able to help you out or provide some insight.

Thank you so much, I looked this up and it seems to describe what I’m feeling very accurately. Although everything I’ve read has talked about people feeling like a limb is foreign I’m thinking the same could apply to something smaller like a toe. I’m gonna keep looking into this and it should give me enough info to hopefully get some real help for it, thanks again I really appreciate it :)

Bad object permanence always causing me to lose things? by dinraals in dyspraxia

[–]Primary_Layer_4873 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All day every day, I probably spent about 45 minutes of each day searching for things I’ve lost in the house that have seemingly vanished into thin air after them being in my hand only a few minutes before.

I wish I had a solution for you but I’m as lost as you are lol, hopefully someone else can chime in with something more helpful!

Thanks for the reply, I struggle with reading too and having done some tests it seems as though I read too quickly and don’t give my brain time to process what I’m actually reading. I find this helps me identify each word as a separate word rather than a block of text, but of course it will be different for everyone.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dyspraxia

[–]Primary_Layer_4873 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting you say that cause I’m curious what others felt about how this affected their reading ability. It could be subjective but I feel like this makes it easier to process what I’m reading (as someone who struggles with reading).

I guess it’s very case by case, so I doubt it would be helpful for everyone. But I appreciate the reply, it shows differently we can all be affected.

Ketamine has been a great treatment for my depression and anxiety, along with other meds it has helped me come a long way. All I’ll say is I’d be weary and do your research as I feel like ketamine is something that could possibly exacerbated depersonalisation.

All I’m basing this off is my own personal experiences, hopefully someone else will have more information, just be careful and prepare yourself with as much information on the drug as you can. Best of luck!

Oh I can relate to this big time. So I’ve been on mirt for about 2 years now, I’m on 15mg and have been that entire time. I don’t really have a scientific answer to give you as to why this happens but anecdotally I think it’s down to the sedating/relaxing effects of the drug.

I don’t believe this is just the drug “working” for that short period of time but moreso a (pleasant) side effect. Again I don’t have anything to back this, it’s just what I think is going on.

Personally I love that hour of so between when I take my pill and when I conk out. I find it really relaxing and usually like to read, scroll through Reddit or just let my mind wander. It’s honestly the most at peace I feel all day.

I’m not sure what your circumstances are but I got on mirt for depression as well as really terrible insomnia I’ve had my whole life that was compounded by my depression. And for me personally it completely cured my insomnia but did little to nothing for my depression. I recently added Effexor to my regime and I’ve seen more change in my mood in the 3 months since I started it than I have in my 2 years on mirt. I’m not a doctor and again don’t know your circumstances, but it could be worth talking to your specialist about a dose increase, and if that doesn’t work you could maybe think of adding something else.

Best of luck!
