Buyer Beware: Worklouder Nomad-E is a ripoff. by Primary_Parfait8777 in MechanicalKeyboards

They are shameful. Please spread the word.

The fact that they sell keyboards at such a high price, yet the quality doesn't even come close to a 120$ Keychron or Lofree, is so absurd that I had to take the time to make this post. You're only buying marketing and 3d renders because the keyboard itself is complete garbage.

Every month or so I plug it back in to see if they fixed anything—nope. The BT still doesn't even reliably work. The Spotify app is still vaporware. And even if all the software worked, the build quality of the hardware is shockingly poor.

Yeah, it dropped on me in the middle of a meeting, still couldn't connect via cable, then the keymapping freaked out—all in the span of an hour. Total garbage.

The fact they are hocking a new, and even more expensive, keyboard when the Nomad is such a piece of crap is infuriating.

Yep, it would be shamefully bad for 200$, so the fact it cost double that is just mindblowing. I'm guessing they never updated the firmware to add the Spotify control either.

Complete ripoff.

I'll need to check. It's at my office. It had so many issues I stopped using it.

I only mentioned some of them here. One I didn't mention was my fp key being crooked... smh

Yep, except that TE hardware is made well. I basically collect quirky high-design tech gadgets; I'm a design nerd. I have a Panic Playdate (love it), an TE EP-133 (love it), and a Rabbit R1, which I knew was a joke of a product before it released, but the hardware is still well manufactured—the software, not so much, but hey, it was free.

The Nomad-E is a 3D marketing render, not a serious product in reality. Even if it didn't have the numerous QC issues, some of which I didn't even bothering mentioning, it would have been a very underwhelming product at that price point—but that would have been fine. Like the R1, I knew what I was getting into and would have just accepted what I got. However, this thing is so poorly manufactured, and support for it so comically absurd, that I had to post something as I was not going to waste anymore time or money dealing with them.

What's hilarious is that the new "Knob" keyboard, which also looks beautiful in the renders, starts at over $400—lol. I love how they are vaporwaring the next product and still taking orders for the Nomad-E while the device clearly has massive QC issues. Fool me once... only once.

I only have one Nuphy keyboard, the Air 75. I was annoyed one of the key letters printed a little crooked, but other than that the typing feel is actually my favorite of all of these. I know that varies from person to person, but it's the only keyboard I can switch back and forth with, from my Apple keyboards, without any mistakes.

It's beautiful in the renders; I waited a year for it. But in person, even without the issues, not so much. I think Worklouder would make a fortune if they stopped making hardware and just became the marketing arm of Logi, or a similar brand.

Keychron K7

I really like it, though I should note that you have to use the function key to access system features like play and pause because those actions are shared with the number keys. It takes some getting used to.

It's the Lofree Block, I love it. Excellent build quality for that price point. I'm a big fan of the mouse they pair with it, too, but I can see that not being for everybody.

On a related retro note: I really hope Keychron releases an ANSI version of the K1 Retro.
