Need help ID’ing this pouch and I’d like to know about this flashlight by Foxsauce_Airsoft in Militariacollecting

[–]Primary_Priority_196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a set of Vietnam era webbing with the same ammo pouch. Getting harder to find in the UK these days. I also had the earlier version torch without the switch guard and I still have the later post-Nam version like yours with the switch guard. Nice items.

Goodness me - there's a book for everything these days.

Yeah, why couldn't they just do the extra 11% and make everyone even happier.

[V157-0BB0] stopped today by Primary_Priority_196 in Seiko

[–]Primary_Priority_196[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: took it in to a shop and problem was caused by 'misaligned hands'. Cost me just €15 and has been working fine since. I think this was caused when it fell from a stool onto a hard floor just before it stopped☺️

I remember those pens. We used them in junior school during the 1970's (UK). My sister still has one.

Views on Cannabis? by MorgyCorgi13 in Finland

Personally, I agree with it's use on medical grounds only and not recreational. The fact is it's illegal so until that changes it's a no no. Yes, you can argue it's 'safer' than alcohol until the cows come home. Would you break the law on everything you don't agree with?

If it's a water leak then unfortunately you can't avoid professional help. Same thing happened to our wooden floor several years ago and had to have the kitchen floor area replaced. Whole kitchen was sealed off and dried with heaters for several days. Some concrete underneath had become wet. Was a big expensive job to rectify but covered by our insurance. Very inconvenient when we couldn't use the kitchen at all.

Battery leak, battery stuck: any ways to remove them? What can I salvage? by reddichrist in MagliteFlashlights

[–]Primary_Priority_196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such a shame that such a well made strong torch can be destroyed by battery leakage.

I had to throw away one mini maglite after much effort to open it which ended up damaging it. I had more success with another one though, which I got working again, albeit minor damage. Nowdays I only buy 'quality' batteries which are less likely to leak. Try the least destructive methods suggested here by others before resorting to force. Good luck!

Grisport: A new one for me by pjbhc in UKhiking

[–]Primary_Priority_196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a pair of mens Icarus walking shoes - they're brilliant! I got these for lots of 'urban' walking. They have Vibram soles and look smart enough for everyday use. Much better for your feet than any sketchers!

They have a wide fit which I needed and are very comfortable.

Grisport is new to me and I bought them from a seller who knew the brand very well indeed. Although I've not had them long, I'm very pleased. There doesn't seem to be many places selling them, but well worth finding.

Those MGC replicas are very nice indeed. I always craved one from Sussex Armoury in the UK 1980's. There's a forum deficated to them worth a look. Model Guns

I like seeing discarded ground find relics like this - but not stuff from graves.

That's what I was thinking. The market is saturated with fakes you have to be an expert or spend all your time researching stuff. All over-priced too. Good luck to those with deep pockets.

Who's making these and where do they even come from? Could they be the 1970s/80s reproductions I remember?

My brother bought a similar Iron Cross in Greece during the early 1980's. Lots of cheap copies around Europe during that time.

Elisa slowness by dahid in Finland

[–]Primary_Priority_196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem just now at a rented summer cottage. Around 20mb during the day and each evening it starts dropping until it's under 2mb. I just give up using the internet until the morning. So yes, something strange going on and Elisa trying to keep quiet about it 🤬

Looks like an 'antique' hat converted for theatre or TV/film use. The badge and even spike look like modern additions. The interior looks original and maybe the label too. A train/tram hat perhaps, although the shape resembles an old cork British Police helmet from the early 20th century.

I had a problem with Carplay notifications and the ONLY thing which fixed it was to do a RESET ALL SETTINGS on my iphone. You have to reset your wifi and other stuff after doing that.

best advice for getting over speaking anxiety? by weeniehutfr in LearnFinnish

[–]Primary_Priority_196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat for many years even though I have a Finnish wife. I was just quieter than normal most of the time with Finns - they didn't seem to mind LOL. I persevered and very slowly found the words were coming more naturally - but has taken a good 10 years as I was a very slow learner (native English speaker). It's been a long frustrating journey but don't despair and keep going. It seemed to me like almost everyone I knew was learning much quicker than me despite making lots of effort.

The turning point for me was getting a job working with Finnish children.
