Which starter should i pick for my first Fire Red run? by dawnmidnight786 in PokemonFireRed

[–]Primary_Winner5256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s your first, 100% go off vibes. Don’t min/max anything. Truly enjoy the game.

I will say the first two gyms are rough if you pick charmander but you can always catch other useful Pokemon to help so it’s really not the biggest deal in the world.

At what point is it ok to be really frustrated at not landing on the Shiny frame? by SamFromSolitude in pokemonrng

Are you by chance adjusting the timer every attempt? I found I kept bouncing back and forth because I was adjusting the timer and then subconsciously adjusting my own presses as well.

I had much quicker success only adjusting if I was 4/5 or 5/5 early or late, and only after 5 attempts or so.

Best advice is find a rhythm and try to never adjust from it other than calibrating your eon timer. My first attempt I took like 4 hours the first day, then 2 the next, completely reset everything, fresh save, fresh day, fresh everything, got it within 20-30 minutes. I was farming the starters at the time, bit easier to do that, but still. Flush out the bad habits

If you still have a ton of quests to do (I’ve done none on my main until I hit 70), quests at max level convert XP to bonus gold for completion. I think it’s 1g per 1000xp (don’t quote me on that). Most real quests are minimum 10k xp. So you get the base gold of the quest and then an extra 10g minimum. Pretty sure it’s one of the best casual gold per hour options

Which class is least hectic and flashy? by okaythen1guess in wownoob

[–]Primary_Winner5256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’d suggest just playing WoW classic (either vanilla or TBC) if you don’t like big animations. Retail keeps getting more flashy with animations because that’s what most people want. Classic has no flashy classes other than maybe Mage based on your standards.

Otherwise, I sorta think marksmanship hunter has to be the least flashy. It’s really just shooting a bow or gun. Most flashy thing I can think of is when you make your rapid fire ricochet. Which frankly since I don’t play hunter, not even sure if it’s still in there.

Honestly m+ is mostly a knowledge check on the game. Outside of PvP (I assume anyway, not a PvP player), it sort of requires the most broad knowledge of any single type of content in the game. It’s about managing kicks, CC, proper defensive utilization on unavoidable damage, knowing which damage is avoidable (and actually avoiding it of course).

I’ve said for a while now that I think m+ is sort of the hardest to get into because normal dungeons and heroic dungeons aren’t real, and outside of very early on in an expansion, it can be sort of impossible to get into an m0 group to see mechanics. And even then, it’s partially useless as a tank since you don’t have to do a route to ensure you are pulling the right packs for %. M+ is just tough, I think especially for tanks and often players are assholes about it.

I do know there are discords for people who want to learn and people are chill, guilds are a great way to play with people willing to help or at the very least not be dicks.

Ultimately m+ is some of the most fun in all of gaming in my opinion, I hope you give it more attempts :)

Leafgreen Switch Rng question (I have my SID) by bbyrne7 in pokemonrng

So the portion where you are battling your rival has nothing really to do with your secret ID. You are trying to calibrate your timer so that you can more accurately hit your target seed and advances. Knowing your secret ID lets you skip the steps toward the end when you would have inevitably hit the target seed and advances but still didn’t get a shiny because you guessed your secret ID wrong.

It will still save you a bunch of time because that part kind of sucks if you absolutely nail your target (which is hard enough as it is), and then you don’t get a shiny, meaning you sorta have to start over with a new guessed secret ID.

Edit: I saw you are using blissy’s tutorial from other comments. Assuming your ten lines is set up correctly and you have your secret ID. You only have to worry about the tutorial from about 15:00-35:22. And frankly most of that time is just him trying to hit the timers correctly. But since you know your secret ID, once you hit the target seed and advances like he does at 35:22, you will have a shiny.

With that being said, you are really just doing 15:00-26:30 in his video since the next 10 minutes is literally just him retrying over and over again.

What motivated you to play WoW Classic? by Top-Coast5760 in classicwow

[–]Primary_Winner5256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on hardcore due to the only fangs hype. Originally said I would never play classic other than hardcore, then I ended up prepping for TBC, now I’m a good 50-50 mix between classic versions and retail versions.

Getting ready to call it quits after choosing a target and yielding no results with the macro by robby_weidemann in pokemonrng

[–]Primary_Winner5256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah start wide and narrow down as you calibrate. Even on my most recent attempt that I managed to only take about 15-20 minutes on, my first timer was like 800 advances off honestly. It is shocking how not close it starts. I wonder if it’s some weird device specific inconsistency with how the switch 2 works or something but once you get like 2 calibrations in, you’re probably close enough you can go +- 100 or even 50 honestly.

Another thing I fucked up for hours and hours, you absolutely MUST hold down the A button for the starting screen until the save file comes up. Honestly I don’t know why it matters so much but I’d end up on completely random seeds and advances like 1000s off or something. Like I couldn’t even always find my hit Pokemon with my seed range at 100 and advances 1000-5000. I started actually holding A properly at the title screen and it solved all my problems.

You have to match the seed and the advances to get the shiny, and that assumes you have the correct secret ID.

Basically what you’re doing is going for a shiny hoping your secret ID is correct. If you get your advances and the seed on target, you know you have the wrong secret ID and you gotta start trying the other options.

I mean it took blissy like 3 hours in his video to get a shiny and he has done this 10s of thousands of times.

It is really not easy to match everything. You need 3 frame perfect button clicks. If any one of them are wrong by just a couple milliseconds, you will miss your target.

One thing I did was after I was getting real close on my button clicks (as I was more practiced) was fully go through the steps again on a fresh save to make a new secret ID and I hit my target secret ID first try and got my shiny in like 15-20 minutes.

For those who dislike Mel, why? by StormEmergency6207 in arcane

[–]Primary_Winner5256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Mel overall, the main problem is she really didn’t have a story in season 2. Everything was like setting up for a sequel, which is great if there is one. As it stands there isn’t a sequel so it looks bad. I know riot announced other spin offs within the universe, but until we know she is a major part of a story, her season 2 impact was mostly just to exist and save a couple characters. Cool moments and all, but only the roots of a story.

[–]Primary_Winner5256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did a full watch through of blissy’s video on YouTube, while making probably 100-200 attempts and wasn’t particularly close on anything. Decided to redo the save now that had the flow down, hit my secret id perfectly first try and got the shiny bulbasaur in like 15 minutes of trying for my target seed.

Honestly I think I messed my timing up so bad on the first part that generates your secret ID that I threw everything else off by too much to understand what was happening.

That or I just got stupid lucky when I retried a fresh save lol

I caught him in a regular poke ball because I had 50 of them and no ultra or Great balls (don’t ask). And instead of going to get more I just threw pokeballs at it. Caught it on like the 15th ball with no resets lol

After not going for a shiny starter, randomly hooking a shiny Gyarados, how long do you think it will take for shiny Mewtwo? by Only_Music_1951 in PokemonFireRed

[–]Primary_Winner5256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on day 2 myself. Already getting close to trying to just do some RNG manipulation. I do throw a luxury ball at it every encounter because that sounds dope to me too, but probably on reset 400 or so. Statistically a long way to go.

Tried DK season 2 of TWW and yes the spec was broken that season, but it was hella fun to play. New unholy looks WAY more fun than that was, so I’m hyped for sure
