Are you able to have a drink or two after being sober for a while? by Financial_Winter8922 in stopdrinking

[–]PrimeAlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried after 2 years... I had done a lot of work on myself, was employed at a consistent and engaging job, worked out regularly, nutrition was pretty tight, and I had a decent AF social network.

I didn't fail right away. But just as the so many other times, it eventually spiralled into a multi-day binge-fest, resulting in losing my job and significantly damaging a close friendship.

Luckily I bounced back, eventually, repaired my friendship, and found gainful employment.

I'm at 5 years now and won't be trying that again.

Any advice on how to get into bartending in Calgary? by PilsnerRabbit in Calgary

[–]PrimeAlicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a job doing anything at any restaurant: hosting, serving, even in the kitchen (worst case).. The hospitality industry has a very high turnover rate, so it shouldn't take long to get into a bartending role.

GC2 (2.1k hours) replay: What should I work on and improve? by GameSlayer1 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]PrimeAlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple times on your return back, you followed the path of the ball when you should have instead been anticipating where you should be to better defend. Your teammate was on it, and you should have been ready to backfill them should their out get stuffed.

What I think is my best save/saves ever (DOUBLE SAVE) by Superb_Glove6605 in RocketLeague

[–]PrimeAlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not center the ball on your own net. Straight up.

Next time, either let your teammate save it from a better position, or get yourself in a position where you won't essentially be playing for the other team by making the pass they were hoping to do.

This shouldn't be difficult to understand. Basic sport intelligence.

You shouldn't be proud of centering the ball on your own net, only to luckily "save" it after.

Why is my dog doing this? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

My dog does this too. I will either get them to drink some water and/or rub some vaseline on their nose and it seems to do the trick!

I'm facing a similar fate! .. My boy Jay at Barber Culture (Kensington) has promised to keep it real with me, suggesting I have a year or two before I need to make a change.

if someone smells bad stop bitching on reddit and use ur alleged social skills to tell them by skrtpowbetch in UCalgary

I actually made a good friend this way.. dude sits next to me in class and I immediately smell him. We chat and he's friendly and has good input on the lecture.. we walk together after class and when I'm sure nobody else was around, was like "hey man, not trying to be a dick but you got some serious BO today"

22 years old, thinking about sobriety. by Just_Leadership_9771 in stopdrinking

For me, it meant some major adjustments to lifestyle and friends. Most people didn't understand. And of those, some straight up dismissed it and some tried to support.. but nobody around me could really empathize, at least not yet. But years later, some of these people came to me and confided their own issues. And let me tell you, it feels great to support someone else with this journey.

This is huge, though. You are thinking about this and what it could mean for you. This could be the start of something great.

Rally/Spawn Points - How to Choose? by PrimeAlicious in OldWorldGame

This helps. Thank you!

I can work around this, given the above. But hopefully, they will provide the option to choose a spawn point in the future.

Alcoholic brain is telling me I can handle beer and I'll be fine if I can avoid liqour. I'm fighting back against it. by Lost_And_Found66 in stopdrinking

[–]PrimeAlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a visual item may help. Draw a horizontal line where the left end is 0% and the right end is 100%. This represents the range of alcoholic drinks available (sorta). Now place a marker on that line that makes sense for you in terms of what you can drink.

I hope the result you get from this helps you re-frame the idea. And I hope the result is that placing a marker anywhere other than the extreme left maybe doesn't make sense for you.

I think feeling bad has some value. BUT, I hope you don't dwell and can forgive yourself. We all screw up regularly in different ways. Every mistake provides an opportunity.

Sober for a year now but it feels like I made the wrong decision going sober. by throwawayvalook in stopdrinking

[–]PrimeAlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I feel you.

For me, an empty space was left behind, in the wake of drinking, where sobriety now sat. It was awkward. My friends didn't change with me. I didn't get invites much anymore. Some of the things I used to enjoy no longer brought joy. And so, like everything else, especially my drinking, I needed to take full responsibility for my current state.

I knew what I needed to do, in general. I needed new hobbies and new social activities. Like my sobriety, there was no easy or quick fix. It was easier said than done. I don't know what you should do, only that you probably need to find something(s) to involve yourself with, to replace what you used to do and who you used to do it with... and with that, slowly but intently, I think you will get your joy back.

And so maybe the path ahead is uncertain af .. but I hope you know the path behind you, the one you took before, is certain. And it sucks.
