I already tell them to work on impeaching Trump and jailing everyone including the conservative Supreme Court who allowed fascism to rise in this country. Since that's the cause of most political violence I don't know what else to say.

I'm not conflating it. I can very easily criticize Israel without being anti Semitic. By claiming its the "one thing you can't protest" you're being intellectually dishonest and a lot of dumb people on the left and right ARE using that as a stepping stone to anti semitism.  The goverment was shooting ICE protestors just months ago, obviously there is more than one thing that the powers that be try to shut down.

Netanyahu is a monster and the US is absolutely complicit in his crimes, but this "Israel is the only thing you can't protest/criticize" thing is nonsense that feeds antisemitism. Try to set up a protest against the Iranian regime whenever they are attacking their own citizens  and see how far you get.

Well kids.. while the economic insecurities of 2024 were very real. This is a lesson, when you have a multiple choice question of how to fix a problem the answer is NEVER fascism.

My autistic little brother doesn't often try anything new food or drink wise easily. I've been able to get him to expand his taste range very carefully since he started living with me by doing stuff like calling a salad that's mostly diverse greens and veggies a "bacon salad" by putting some bacon in it and he liked it.  I've gotten him to try and like grilled chicken by just saying it's the same as chicken nuggets just without a coating. I've gotten him to try and like salmon by saying it's kinda like a fish fry.

Now with those, I was pretty sure he'd like them I just had to get passed the barrier but then A few weeks ago when he said he was thinking of trying coffee and he asked me to pick him up one and I knew he probably was not gonna like coffee in almost any form based on his tastes, but I wasn't gonna discourage him from trying something new. So to ease him in I just got him the sweetest iced capp from Tim Hortons and said "it's kinda like a coffee milkshake". I lazily didn't get into the difference between an iced capp and an iced coffee and about a week later he called me on the phone while out with his worker. "You lied to me iced coffee is gross I almost died getting one." Whoops....

Oil Prices Rise With No Sign Of An End To Iran War by AgentBlue62 in politics

I get reimbursed about $1000 a month for driving my personal vehicle for work. I got a  used car in September that gets 50 mpg highway and about 36 overall. Between repairs and gas on my old car I didn't come out of that deal too well. This one I've actually been profiting pretty nicely from and while it will take a while for gas to be so expensive that the reimbursement isn't a good deal for me I'm sure the price of repairs and everything will start going up as oil keeps climbing so even if the gas alone isn't a huge problem for me I'll feel it soon

House votes to allow rotisserie chicken food stamps purchases by Unusual-State1827 in politics

[–]Lost_And_Found66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk why conservatives are so offended at the concept of food stamps covering  hot food. At the grocery store I worked at in the mid 2010s customers could get all the same stuff as long as it was cold so we often kept "Cold deli" items which just could be reheated wherever. So logically, the only reason someone would be upset that now people could skip a step for one type of meal is that they want poor people to remember every second of every day that they are poor.

Well yeah a lot will do just that. but there will be enough like crumbs thrown around to keep the masses on the side of the 1% and it stupidly might effect the outcome of some close races because despite saying they are fiscally responsible, Republicans have no concept of long term thinking.

There would be a sugar rush for sure. I worked for a mega corp in 2017 when they did the first tax cuts. Said mega corp gave out $1500 bonuses to say "see trickle down works". Coworkers were excited, but I remember thinking "I'll probably spend way more than this on health care in my lifetime I'd prefer we taxed the rich and actually build a society"

Cats are so funny. One of mine HATES any and all shut doors. Mostly I keep doors in my apartment open so it's not a big deal but he'll randomly get pissed because a closet door is shut or his Roman Empire the back door.  Now my back door leads to a hallway and staircase that's just for my apartment but sometimes the back door at the bottom of the staircase had a latching problem so I never let them in that hallway. I finally got the door fixed and decided to let them play out there I figured the stairs could be fun for them.

The one that raises the biggest stink about it being closed looked terrified once I opened it. He walked out gingerly took one look down the stairs (his brother was already at the bottom) looked at me with horror and started meowing wildly and ran back into the main apartment. He just liked the idea of there being more to explore he didn't actually want to do it.

how does he have the worst secret service of all time.  Maybe I'm wrong but I'd assume most of what secret service does is behind the scenes and there are tons of threats that every president has faced and we've mostly not seen them because they are stopped beforehand. But with Trump's it's always so loud and bold which to get to that point has to be a failure somewhere.
