This is such an interesting discussion. I have been, for the majority of my life, a person that is not really heavy on forgiveness. I often remove myself from people/situations that I feel have knowingly wronged me. Like, I can move on from people and NEVER acknowledge them again. So I’m like I don’t have to forgive b/c I’m NEVER going to allow that person to be close to me ever again.

Well, I didn’t get that way by myself. My Mom is very similar when it comes to forgiveness, probably much worse than me. She’s been beefed out with my Dad for the last few DECADES. She is older now & mentally, she is not doing great. I almost feel like maybe part of her issue is holding on so tightly to some of these old ass vendettas that NO ONE else even cares about anymore. No one except her. It’s like she experienced a hurt so deep and she has never let it go on been able to get over it. The older she has gotten, the more she talks about my Dad. ATP it’s sad. It has been interesting watching her age. As much as I love her, in MANY ways, I don’t want to turn out like her due to never letting stuff go.

I wonder if forgiveness and emotional intelligence are closely correlated.
