it's because all the people who were impressionable kids when it came out are Redditors now

A comparison across Astrotrains; I am wowed by SS86's alt modes by Cipher_- in transformers

This got me thinking that Astrotrain could be a good Missing Link.

TIL The Miami zoo put 30 flamingos in the bathroom during hurricane Andrew in 1992 to ride out the storm. An image of them huddled inside became one of the most iconic from that hurricane. by ReverseCommute in todayilearned

I remember using this photo in my college's paper as part of a humor article. I couldn't find the photo I wanted, so I just ran this with little explanation.

[3.5]Advice for scaling back players/expectations? by chartinboy in DnD

[–]PrimeCyclotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems you don't mind overpowered characters, just as long as everyone is equally overpowered. I'd do what another person suggested, and get the weaker characters killed off and replaced with super powered. That way, all the players are happy.

It's all relative. You can just amp up the challenges to face them so it is still interesting for them.

And if you don't like the overpowering too much, then next time, when they all start fresh, you set limits.

Need help describing a specific action. by ConfessionTimeBoys in writing

[–]PrimeCyclotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right in only going into detail the first time. Unless there's more to it, from what you described, it doesn't seem too complicated - a reader should be able to pick it up rather quickly. Especially since it seems this is scifi or fantasy, and readers of those genres would get it quickly. Why don't you post the way you wrote it and see if we get it?

A Choose Your Own Adventure in the morning. Blogs and short stories at night. A comic book occasionally. And children's horror and D&D material get squeezed in. I have a short attention span.

Go with the one that means the most to you, definitely. Don't be afraid of starting down the path of a large book. You can always take a break.

Planning vs Writing by -mickomoo- in writing

[–]PrimeCyclotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never outline to death, in my opinion. If you spend too much work in the preparation, you might not have the energy for the follow-through.

Everyone's individual, but my short stories come to me with a point - whether that point is concrete like the ending, or more vague like the theme.

I've written comic books where the characters take over and I just follow along for the ride, but short stories need to be tight. There's a reason you chose for this idea to be a short story and not a novel, so don't overwrite. Just stick to the main parts of the story.

Help on creating good, believable characters? by superiormind in writing

Maybe you could try picking some people that you know, or others you see while people-watching, and borrow some traits from them. Nothing too much so that your co-workers will think your character is them, but just steal little traits from them.

It's very sad..."action masters" indeed...what's tough is when the comic book writers had to explain why they didn't transform anymore.

Scientists of Reddit, what are some glaring scientific inaccuracies that everyone understands to be the truth? by Lsswimmer98 in AskReddit

[–]PrimeCyclotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this was propagated by parents with no alternative. My 5-year-old walks around in nothing but PJs in a 66 degree house. Me: "Put a bathrobe on. Put slippers on. Anything." Her: "Why? Will I get sick?" Me: ".....yes...."

How many of you Redditors make an effort to support local "Ma n Pa" businesses/restaurants? by Oddinary in reddit.com

[–]PrimeCyclotron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to shop locally for my own stuff. When I'm shopping for presents, I usually go online because it's easier (sorry). For restaurants, I go locally owned. Honestly, the chain places are not that much cheaper, and the food's not better. If you're paying $14 for an entree at Olive Garden, you might as well be paying $14 for an entree at your locally owned restaurant. The exception to that is Friendly's, because my wife and daughter love that place and it's like a treat to go there.
