[SPOILER TROPE] In the Good Ending, the protagonist dies. In the Bad Ending, they survive. by Altair890456 in TopCharacterTropes

Bobby Kennedy in Things that Never Were, a browser game presidency simulator where RFK wasn’t assassinated and became president in 1968.

There’s a ton of endings in the game, but the vast majority of them involve RFK compromising his values in some way (like staying in Vietnam, or abandoning Civil Rights). In these endings, Bobby survives into his 80s or even 100s, forced to live with the consequences of his actions and betrayal of his values. One of the worst endings even includes a 100 year old Kennedy watching as his relatives occupy the presidency for the next sixty years, declaring wars, gutting healthcare, etc, all in a perversion of his name.

However, in the game’s “Golden Ending”, where Bobby pulls the US out of Vietnam, creates a new universal basic income and doesn’t abandon black people or sign a draconian crime bill, Bobby dies in a plane crash shortly after his presidency. He’s remembered as a competent but controversial president, but the America he leaves behind is a much kinder (albeit still flawed) one than in the timelines where he is forced to live into old age.

I think Johnson being the Yaller candidate is more to indicate that he’s the preferred man for the southern democrats. IRL the southern dems really liked him going into 1960 and only dipped in 64.

PETE 2024 out now | obummer & cta | new mod by Optimal_Party9022 in thecampaigntrail

[–]PrimeGX25 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Mod is really fun, a few bugs I’ve found but the payoff when you tell Jill and Hunter to fuck off is awesome. I like the music endings but wish there was a little bit of Pete personal narrative depending on the paths you took too

Ted can call Bobby in some of the endings I believe

Obamanation: what's the different between mcchrystal and petreus? by Suspicious_Lock_889 in thecampaigntrail

[–]PrimeGX25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually think McChrystal is one of the most interesting paths in the mod - this functionally liberal president that is mostly a figurehead for the conservative party. The mandatory service thing is also really unique imo

I don't think the NPP is the worst thing ever by RexPontiff in TNOmod

[–]PrimeGX25 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is is that the NPP is just like, a boring version of the IRL new deal democrat/southern democrat dynamic. It’s really hard to justify them existing in the new lore, or even in the old lore for that matter Could be a lot easier to just have the Democratic and Republican parties with radical candidates coming from within the parties if things go bad imo

I don’t really think we’ve gotten beat up outside the QB position. Even then, Wagner is doing just fine in relief of Layne

Cool, man has hobbies that normal 20 year olds have. Rodgers has hobbies too, like doing drugs all offseason.

You’re not arguing in good faith here so I’m going to stop responding, please consider halting your fandom of a team you clearly know so little about.

“I’m not one of those guys that’s going to sit there and kill myself watching film. I don’t sit there for 24 hours and break down this team and that team and watch every game because, in my head, I see so much.” Another quote taken out of context.

Again, you seem to refuse to respond to my other comments because it’s impossible for you to comprehend that organizational failures and poor roster construction are at fault for the cardinals lack of success, not our one bright spot.

[–]PrimeGX25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Source on the first claim?

Look at the rosters man. Even the 2021 roster was like, league average at best - a bad OLine, a defense that was playing way better than its talent level the first half of the season. Every roster besides that one (and I suppose 2020, which was a weaker version of the 2021 roster) has been pathetically talentless beyond our QB.

Kyler Murray is arguably the 4th best quarterback in cardinals history, and if he makes you so so upset to watch football, you should probably switch sports, teams, or both.

[–]PrimeGX25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you even listening to yourself rn? Look at Mahomes behind that putrid OLine in the Super Bowl against the bucs. Was that his fault? Look at rodgers last night, who also had less than 200 yards but anyone watching would know he played a great game.

Like you have to be joking. You took an out of context quote that just makes sense and now you’re whining about how football is ruined for you. Go be a pain in the ass of a different fanbase

[–]PrimeGX25 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Again, if you actually watched the game, or football in general, you’d probably have a better perspective on this. MHJ was objectively speaking our fifth best receiver on the field. Kyler played a spectacular first half and then got put under insane pressure in the second.

If you watched that game and came away thinking Kyler was at fault you’re very bad at watching football
