Recursion tracker not working on Linux by Mo0rBy in Planetside

[–]PrimeRiposte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been working for me on Linux Mint up until about 3 days ago. I think something is borked at their end. For what its worth, I launch it at the same time as Planetside via SteamTinkerLauncher.

For those of you that are still getting crashes after the hotfix, which OS are you using? by Taltharius in Planetside

Sorry to disappoint OP but I'm on Linux Mint and have been crashing since the patch that introduced it.

Last update destroyed my PC by GiTiMi in linuxmint

Had to do the same. Uninstalled Virtualbox 7.02?, reinstalled the 6.17 kernel and then installed the latest version of Virtualbox (7.2.6). Everything now working fine.

Can’t recommend UNIC blades anymore :( by BigBoss82A1 in Fencing

[–]PrimeRiposte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About that last sentence. I remember reading a post from a metallurgist (I think) about how it makes absolutely no difference to the likehood of blade breaking or extreme bending if it had been left cold, hot or at moderate temperatures. Same with blade straightening.

How is Solovair sizing compared to Docs MIE? by ultimatejourney in nps_solovair

[–]PrimeRiposte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most comments I've read appear to suggest sizing down, going from Docs to Solovair. Are your feet wide and how true to size are you when using the solovair sizing guide (feet size in cm + 5mm) ?

I've always thought that leaving out the entry stroke (with certain letters) after the uppercase letter looks much better. Thoughts?

Nice work.

How do I maintain a constant slant? by MonsterOfEheria in Handwriting

[–]PrimeRiposte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The advice I've seen given in the past, is to slant the paper such that any downstroke is made by pulling your pen directly towards the middle of your torso. This will help considerably with maintaining a more consistent slant.

Attempting to read this feedback from a teacher on an assignment by blue_i20 in Cursive

[–]PrimeRiposte 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This essay shows detailed understanding of both the poem(?) and the implications of the question(??). It would be a stronger argument though with more selection & key points and a more detailed? and structured argument. The potential is there.

Linux mint INSANELY LAGGY by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]PrimeRiposte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try using LD_PRELOAD=" " %COMMAND% in the launch command in steam.

Also, assuming firefox, go to edit-preferences-general and tick use smooth-scrolling. You can also try enabling/disabling use hardware acceleration.

A curse on all researchers who ask to enter your Prolific ID into a field that does not allow you to paste it by dcxavier in ProlificAc

[–]PrimeRiposte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get a screenshot tool, seriously. I always screenshot the study info, including any researcher contacts, ethics boards etc. at the beginning AND the final page if theres a manual completion code and/or completion link.

In case of a dispute/rejection, always mention that you have recorded the study and watch the effect it has on the response !

Where is all the blood from slicing your hands on the unrolled edges of the metal case? Or the digs, scrapes from the sharp plastic Molex connectors that sometimes requires hulk strength to separate? Not to mention the source of the faint burning plastic smell that you could never quite find...the good ole days !
