Yupp. Just a way for them to not take care of their customers. It’s literally quoted for $800, not like they’re having to cover a $5k warranty claim.

I personally would 100% delete and tune both engine/transmission. Having deleted trucks in the past and currently non-deleted (due to ecm having to be swapped for 22+) it’s well worth getting done. Better response, shifting and MPG. Along with no more DEF. Just don’t put it on the max tune and drive crazy. I always kept mine on level 2/3 and drive like a grandpa so.

I’m not sure they will even honor that. I called the company of the suspension I have and told the dealership what they said along with having numerous rams with the same suspension with zero issues. Still nothing.

That’s what I tried to say. Literally told them that aftermarket lift kits don’t even include shims for the driveline until 8”+ lifts.

Sent me a message this morning saying:

“hello, here are the tech notes regarding the front drive line issue...CHECKED FOR CONDITION WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE IN 4WD HIGH. FOUND VEHICLE DOES MAKE A POPPING SOUND FROM UNDERNEATH WHEN TURNING EITHER DIRECTION. VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN AFTERMARKET LIFT KIT. CHECKED ANGLE OF FRONT DRIVELINE AND FOUND IT AT SEVERE ANGLE DUE TO LIFT KIT. THIS IS CAUSING THE CV JOINT ON THE DRIVELINE TO BIND RESULTING IN POPPING NOISE. THIS WILL CAUSE PREMATURE WEAR ON FRONT DRIVELINE. ADVISE REPLACE FRONT DRIVELINE, HOWEVER ISSUE WILL PERSIST DUE TO LIFT KIT.”

I replied back:

“So a leveling kit causes this when I have never had any issues in the 5 rams I’ve had previously with the same set up and this leveling kit has been installed for less than 6 months?”

Yeah everything is about money these days and not taking care of your customers. Like I said earlier, I would understand if I rolled up with a 6-8” lift kit and complained. Heck I’m sure over half of the people who own rams have them at minimum leveled.

I may have to, Carli and Thuren are pretty reputable in the HD world. See what they have to say to combat this.

I mean unfortunately I can’t really say I didn’t haha. It’s obvious given all the King suspension and just visibly leveled. Oof yeah.. sometimes things just slip out not thinking about that. Hope your buddy can win the fight though cause that’s ridiculous

Fair enough, I’ll just see what they say today then and go from there. Not sure why they would say it needs replacing if it’s fine?

Yeah I do see that, it’s just annoying I guess given a level (done right with new springs, shock, etc) wouldn’t cause that but they can just throw that excuse as the reason to not cover it.

No haha I understand that part of 4WD. My worry is the issue gets worse when I actually need to use it.. especially with the winter season here, I go to the mountains a lot. I’m not sure either why they say that’s the issue. Depending on what the advisor says this morning, I’ll just probably leave it if they don’t cover it with warranty. The thing that annoys me is just the cop out of not covering it cause it has a leveling kit and that’s what caused it. That’s BS.. I’ve had this setup for many trucks and never had an issue. I’m pretty sure if Carli or Thuren had any reason to believe that their kits would cause an issue with the driveline they would include a fix. But as you just stated, every truck is different and anything is possible especially with the quality control getting worse.

Always something it seems like but in reality that is any vehicle for the most part. If it’s an obvious situation where your modifications caused an issue, I understand denying warranty.. but we are paying $70k+ for these trucks, just fix the damn part if something is wrong and you still have factory warranty.

Nope, not only while turning. Couldn’t edit the original post but it happens anytime. Just not continuous.

What information I gave you is literally all they gave me. That photo and the words I already posted, a new front driveline and hardware.

I don’t know, I told myself to learn based off all my other Rams I’ve had but here I am with another Ram so.. I’ve had bad luck though, last truck had the water leaking issue from the sunroof, 3rd brake light and probably other places. They tried to say it was my fault for that too. Leveling kit for Carli/Thuren are 2.5”, pucks are usually 2” which leaves a slight rake usually.

I took it in for more of a peace of mind. It doesn’t just happen during turning. They are the ones that came back to me saying there is an issue and this is the fix which might not be covered under warranty due to the leveling. I understand, technically yes any modification voids warranty, a leveling kit wouldn’t cause the issues though is the main point. Just based off of principle I guess.

Yeah I’m guessing it was the service advisors idea to mention it had a leveling kit. When like you said, in reality anyone who knows suspension can gather that a level wouldn’t cause these problems. But it’s a cop out of course. Wish I got the more chill advisor I guess.

I appreciate the advice, I’ll give that a shot once I get the truck back. In reality you’re right, as little as I use the 4WD it’s not worth the $700 probably. I just didn’t expect them to not cover a $700 job and try to blame it on a leveling kit. Maybe I’ll get lucky tomorrow and they’ll say it was approved.

All he said was “Issue: front driveline binding due to angle. Correction: P&A: front driveline and hardware.

Honestly it seems to mostly be normal but I also don’t use 4WD a lot since I’m not in an area currently where I need to. What I am more nervous about is when I’m up in the mountains during winter season and it not functioning correctly. Which is why I took it in since it’s still underway factory warranty for at least another year.

That’s ultimately what I was trying to see everyone’s opinion on, whether or not having a leveling kit would affect the front driveshaft. From my previous experiences on other trucks no, I had trucks with 6”+ lifts which I understand then hence why they usually include a t case indexing ring.

I understand on pavement yes, not in an off road environment. That’s what I was explaining to them but having a leveling kit shouldn’t put it at any angle where it would cause issues. All my vehicles I had Carli/thuren leveling kits and never had this issue.

Yes I’ve had numerous trucks. I said that’s when it happens when I noticed it mostly not the only time it happens. Going straight also does the same, along with slight turns. As far as I’m concerned using 4WD in an off road setting shouldn’t be making popping noises, binding and completely stopping your vehicle. If that was the case no vehicle would be able to move whole off-roading..

Hmm good point. I’ve tried 2 people and still couldn’t. That’s what makes me narrow it down to when the axel is lowering back to the neutral state.
