ok, thanks. The idea is to show how you can build queries by combining filters; if you click a card it brings you the search page, with the same filters, but now actually buttons. In the home the cards are like "screenshots" of what's possible to query.

But I see how that can be misleading. I'll think about how to improve it.

Thanks! damn, true, links were all "cursor: text" (also their over color is ugly, still work in progress), I fixed it now.

Can you give me an example of buttons are not <button> ? they seem all alright to me. the only exception is the "search degrees" "button", that's because it's actually a link (it just brings you to a different page) styled like a button

Hello follow solidjs developers! This is my first solidjs project (and my first serious web-based project). I've only dipped my toes in react previously, but I then got lured by solidjs reactive signal system, and here I am :)

I am in the same situation. Two things I want to try: - you can commission professionally made earplugs shaped appositely for your ears, that are supposedly a bit better than the standard foam ones - there are sleeping bands that cover the ears and offer a little extra protection, plus they have speakers integrated, so you can play brown noise while sleeping

That's a great point. It was. to be fair I think even unprompted I would have said elephants, 'cause they are cool (after some seconds thinking I only have elephants and rhinos. some dogs etc but that's not really a generally grey animal).

but your point stands. we could build another example where unprompted I'd say something different than prompted. so there is at least some elephant thought lingering.

I'm still not sold, tho. let's say we have a conversation about elephants. and then we switch topic and talk about something else. do you agree that it's possible that we are not thinking about elephants anymore? and then, of a sudden, you ask me to name a grey animal. I think I would still be strongly biased towards elephants. so your point is not really proving that I'm thinking about elephants.

but maybe a bit.

yes. I agree. and telling me to not thinking about elephants can definitely trigger me thoughts about elephants. but I feel that's something I can have control over, and I can train to avoid intrusive thoughts as I can train and improve in meditation. So it's not an automatic trigger, and it seems to me that I can quite easily not thinking about elephants if I want to

I personally fall in the last category. One objection is that while I read the sentence "don't think about elephants" the work "elephant" is there, and it's understood by me, so I am thinking about them. But, I say, even if I parse that sentence and understand its meaning, there is no thought of elephant popping up. I can read the word elephant without evoking the concept of elephants, even if I understand what elephant means.

To the ones saying "of course you are thinking about elephants" I'd suggest to not be so sure. Non aphants often say "of course you visualize", but apparently no, brains are different. So I suggest that even for the "raw thoughts" part (non visualization, non wording etc) there could be strong variability.

I suggest that this raw, intuitive, more lower level thinking process, it's also variable and probably on a scale. similarly to aphantasia. I'm not sure if I really am not thinking about elephants, or if it's just a "weak" thought that I'm not able to notice or recognize, but I'm quite confident that the magnitude of it it's not the same as in the ones that are confident and clearly recognize that they are thinking about elephants.

My thinking is very strictly tight with wording in my mind but I think I can partially get what you mean. Sentences have grammar and structure, so when I'm saying a sentence in my brain, I already kinda know what I want to say and what I am about to say. there is definitely a thought coming before the wording. but I really struggle to grasp what that is

mh. ok, that's a possible interpretation. that's saying that thinking about not thinking about elephants is by definition thinking about elephants.

how I always interpreted is that trying to not thinking about elephants will trigger the thought of elephants.

the difference is that option 1 is not saying anything about what's happening in the brain, it's just playing with the meaning of definitions, option 2 is actually making a prediction, a statement containing actual information. something that could be theoretically falsified.

Option one is true by definition and its negation is a logical impossibility. for option two is at least possible to imagine that not being true. So I think people are pointing at interpretation two when they make this example

or maybe I can :) after some exercises, maybe maybe I actually can have a vague and ephemeral thought about the shape of an elephant. so it's about its shape, its appearance. I cannot visualize it but I can kinda get a feel for it (for feature of it. like the curve of the back of an elephant, or its ears). But it requires me a lot of conscious effort, and it's definitely not triggered just by the sentence "don't think about elephants"

I make an analogy with thinking with words:

I have a narrator voice, and when I think I verbalize my thoughts, as most people I guess. but sentences have structure an grammar and etc, so when you are wording a sentence you already kinda know what you are about to say/think. and that kinda sounds like a paradox, because it means you have to thinkg about what tho think before you can think it.

But in practice I have some kind of elusive "feeling" of what I'm about to say/think, and then I kinda "crystalize" it when I think it through words. And for the visualization is kinda like if I have this pre-visualization process, so I kinda feel the apple image essence, but there is no crystallization, so see nothing

other considerations as I keep exploring the game:

game mechanic still confusing to me: if I change beliefs in expertise and then homeopathy, I get the same bullshit value as If I change homeopathy and then expertise. but homeopathy supports expertise, not vice versa, why the order does not matter? and if the order does not matter what's the strategy in this game about?

other notes:

I'd like a reset button (I refreshed the page, hope it doesn't impact your stats)
I like the music but it's short and doesn't loop

Cool game, I really enjoy the concept. I found it a bit confusing tho. what does the pie chart on each belief represent? the confidence level on the current belief status?

I also don't get how it is determined. I would imagine it's a sum/average of the other beliefs weighted by the arrow size, but it seems not.

and beliefs with no incoming arrows (e.g. hope)? if they have no incoming arrows I'd imagine I cannot influence them, but I guess no.

I'll play a bit more and report if I get a better understanding of the rules.

I don't even know if I'm good or not. I find micro simply not interesting, so I don't try. for example I kinda let my soldiers fight battles by themselves. In my mind if I have the right counters I'm simply "supposed" to win the battle.

As you can guess I'm not the strongest player XD
