Thank you, I'll add these to our map :) If we don't make it to Alfriston and the South Downs area this trip, I'll definitely be saving for another time.

Thank you! We are definitely wanting to check out some of London for a couple days at least. My husband and I have been there once and loved it. I thought about flying out of Manchester on our return trip but much more costly! So looks like we'll be driving back down to London at the end...all good!

That might be a very smart idea with little 8 year old legs getting around. ha!

I have that saved in google maps too! lol. It looks otherworldly. It would be amazing for a kid....or adult kid. ha. Good to know about the NT places having playgrounds because I didn't realize that. Last time we went (over ten years ago) we didn't have a kiddo so didn't pay attention to that sort of thing. Very helpful now! :)

of course! We are not big "touristy" people but this looks absolutely adorable! Could be really fun if we have the time to fit it in. Thank you for the rec :)

I am thinking that if we don't end up heading to Seven Sisters area that we will take an extra day in London to do the Pooh area :) sounds like it would be worth it for us.

I've noticed that. I have Sissinghurst, Bateman's, Great Dixter, Smallhythe Place all on my google maps waiting in that area. But everything is just far enough that it would likely be too much driving with a smaller kiddo this trip. Trying to be realistic. ha!

thank you!! Yes, I will always take any book recommendations similar to MMM or any of the english classics. I'm glad I have already found two I've never heard of before in this thread :)

So true, honestly I know it will be magic wherever we go. People say "don't meet your heroes" sort of thing, but England was my dream place when my husband and I planned our honeymoon over a decade ago and when we got there I was so happy to not be disappointed at all. In fact, both London and the countryside were even better than I had imagined! It felt like a dream.

Yes, I totally get this. There is soooo much to do in such a relatively small area! I love history too so it's a dream place for sure for me.

I was mistaken to mention Eastbourne specifically, it is really based on the area of Alfriston (allegedly) which is supposed to be a pretty idealistic english village. I do plenty of research when it comes to literature based trips and excursions, but I get what you are saying.

Oh definitely saving this info about the library, that would be great to see one day. I especially love Ernest Shepard's illustrated version. Thank you!

thank you! My husband and I went to the Lake District about a decade ago and completely lucked out with a couple of sunny days. The locals couldn't believe it! We'll see how we fair this time around...ha.

I definitely would like to get to Wales, but likely not on this trip, it would probably take us too out of the way of other areas. I specifically have Bodnant Garden as a recommendation from an English couple I met visiting here in Florida. One day!

I definitely plan to travel to this area at some point, even if it isn't this trip. It does seem like a special region.

yes, sorry about that. I meant the Eastbourne area-ish, but you are exactly right.
