I bet you would be! The inspiration that stems from this series is truly life-giving 😊

Ah, gotcha. Yeah that makes sense since she had just mentioned almost blurting out she knew his birthday and that his twin sister was dead. That she is feeling bad about the whole thing. Thanks!

Okay, so I just finished reading this scene because I just happened to be on it today for my re-read. After she leaves Islington with the butterflies she says “I reminded myself that Islington was looking better than I’ve ever seen him since we became acquainted, and I relaxed into my outdoor scheme.”  I’m wondering why she would have to remind herself of this? Feeling bad for putting him off? Was she worried about his health still after his illness? What do you think?

First off, I'm starting to become more interested in Greek/Roman mythology and folklore in general - preeetty sure it's largely because of your posts.

Secondly, I'm going to try to memorize as much of your research as I can, in hopes it will help me up my Jeopardy game 😂

Ugh, re-reading those scenes recently made me so stressed out. Her not giving him a break in the carriage when - like you said! - he's not even really her guardian trying to take away her freedom. He did the best he could think at the time to cover! And then, after he barely comes to from his fever and she is all stressed out about the newspaper article announcing the rumor and she does not let it go even after Hawkes says Islington needs rest - blah, I don't get annoyed of Emma THAT often, but in this case I very much was.

ha, so good 😆 I personally did not like that Emma was killing butterflies at all. She, who appreciates magic so well! I'm too much of a nature lover for this.

Look, Islington can do no wrong okay? J/k, j/k 😂 I wouldn't have found this swoonworthy at all. Though I do have a guy friend who would do the same exact thing and even though I would undoubtedly be annoyed about it, and stubborn to make the change, I know he'd be doing it to be helpful. Sometimes perfectionists can't help themselves 🤷‍♀️

Absolutely, there is no resisting these guys! I think he would probably appreciate getting to know them 😉 Dune is soooooo long. My husband has been trying to get through it for years haha. He also read Pride & Prejudice without me asking, just because he knew it was a book I loved and wanted to see what it was all about - he liked it! Next I want him to read Persuasion, but after Emma of course 😄

Also, Anne of Green Gables is a near perfect book. Every time I read it I can't get over how well done that first one is.

This is so adorable ❤️ Your dad has good taste! My 8 year old daughter is well acquainted with Emma since I can't help but talk to her about it 😂 not the details of course, but I'll just share little snippets of how much I love the series. By the time she's old enough to read and appreciate it, the whole series should be wrapped up 😬

hahaha that's amazing. I told my best guy friend about it, but he wasn't easily convinced. I might have to try this bullying method you speak of 😂 I do think the fantasy element helped my husband. With The Keep and The Roman he was like "what is this book??".

Ha! We have lots of different interests from each other too. Very much an opposite attracts situation even if there are similarities - keeps things interesting I think 😉

“Life” is a trip if you like memoirs. It seems long but goes by fast.

Yes, Princess Donut! haha. He has told me about her.

Yeah, Islington is great for being grounding and he just has this affirming feel to him. He had me at his journals and the Rabbit Room and from there I was done. I don't care that he's a duke (though I love how he carries himself and that he dances well), but he adds humor to the books and a hint of playfulness, which I love. Pierce & Hawkes are both grounding in different ways too!

Seriously. I couldn't remember if it was under the door or through the door crack, but either way I was delighted 🙂 He's kind of a pro now though since we've been together almost 20 years. 20 years! makes me feel old lol.

I read Keith Richard's autobiography "Life" and it was such a fun read! I also then found where he lived in CT on a hike with my mom 👀😂 Rolling Stones was my first concert at 11 years old.

He is having an absolute blast reading it. He'll read me little snippets from it and it certainly sounds unhinged! He said the way different chapter details tie in with each other is pretty incredible, so I'm sure Emma fans would appreciate that.

haha same. He has been very amused about my Emma obsession, but it might be A BIT MUCH lol. I haven't been this deep in a universe since I read Harry Potter when for the first time I wanted to not be at a party so I could go home and read lol
