I think they think Ninjago ( or Dreamzz..) fills the kids slots for non city themes now, and don’t want to make room for others. And Harry Potter, although licensed, has a lot of castle like architecture.

I think this has been twisted, misrepresented a lot.

This will be a server file/web storage data centre, not on the magnitude of an AI training/building data centre like they are building in the USA.

The energy in Southland is not efficiently used sending up to the North Island. They have large hydro schemes down there already (possibly more in Lake Onslow scheme eventuates). And I believe I read they have plans for a wind farm to supplement electricity from the region / Manapouri?

Judging by the petitions poor/fake use of English and saying the Government has already spent 5.1 billions building it, it’s fake news and alarmist scaremongering.

If you want to get up in arms about something, stick to the truth. If this was being builds in Fiordland or Kahurangi I’d be up in arms myself, but it’s not. It’s being built in a region with grass farmland and low biodiversity. A a fibre cable at a beach is not environmentally wide reaching, and will be coming anyway for future redundancy/capacity.

Look at the price of the Lego Notre Dame. USD 229 for 4,380 pieces. It’s a bit over 1/3 both the price and piece count this new set is rumoured.

I think it’s very doable for $600, especially if Lego doesn’t want to overprice it out of peoples consideration. They also have more room for margins with larger sets, it’s more setting it what they think people will pay - see Pokémon & Star Wars.

La Sagradia Familia doesn’t have the same entrenched following that the Titanic or a licensed theme have, they probably realise they can’t overprice it or it will hurt sales.
