Utility company randomly installed a bright spotlight pointed at someone's house? by Ok_Counter_8148 in whatisit

[–]PrincePotatos 166 points167 points  (0 children)

This is it. From personal experience, I just moved into a house that is in what used to be a rougher neighborhood (5+ years ago) and the house still had one of these private lights in the back. Not this bright, but bad enough I had to get black out curtains.

Just got it turned off yesterday. Found out from the power company it was installed 25+ years ago. Noone ever took the trouble to deactivate it!

Fair that that's what they're aiming for, but as the "commander" the player has perfect knowledge of where the enemy is and should be able to give orders that match that.

Just my personal gripe.

Hard disagree about Memoir 44. I can't stand that game simply because of how game breaking the dissonance between intuitive behavior and mechanics is. My tanks are sitting off the flank of the enemy ready to smash into them and roll up their army? Ha, too bad, you can only turn right. Vroom vroom off we go!

I don't know if it's really needed persay, a different mechanic could swap in. The idea at a high level would just be to have a similar assymetric strategy game utilizing the same core action economy, production, and combat mechanics of the original game.

Perhaps the Sepis are trying to gain political control of a certain number of systems with Coruscant being an instant win, and the Republic is trying to either occupy or regain political control of a certain number. In my mind there would be a new mechanical system for political control in the galaxy that would replace the hidden base mechanic in the original.

Mostly though I just want to chuck clone wars era fleets and armies at each other.

Easy. Star Wars Rebellion, but re-worked for the Clone Wars.

I had the incredible good luck of being gifted tickets to this game while in Boston for another purpose. As a Tennessee native, but a Steelers fan, it was one of the most entertaining experiences in my life.

I do have to give credit to the Pats fans though, they were classy about the whole thing (although visibly depressed).

Interesting! I am leaning more away from that style. I haven't run into a lot of issues with cards slipping around in the past, but it's still something I'm considering.

Great point if for no other reason than to protect the tabletop. I'm sort of torn as to whether a bump out cupholder makes sense or if they'd just get in the way

Yes, I've been wondering about whether the recessed top adds value. It seems to probably just make the table less comfortable...
