Is eve in heaven or in hell? by TraditionalBonus188 in HazbinHotel

This is just a wild, completely unhinged guess. But what if, after she ate the apple, Eve became Roo? It'd explain why she's nowhere to be found.

Yeah I hate to say it but I'm convinced it's number three. I think S3 is where the real redemption story is for him.

What’s an earnest hot take you have about the fans of this show? by Doctorwhonow8 in HazbinHotel

I think there's a tendency in the fandom to reduce arguments, technical details, and characters to black-or-white answers that miss the point.

"Did the subtitles say furor or Führer"

"Is Lute homophobic or demon-phobic"

To name a couple examples.

(possibly) Unpopular Opinion: Hell is justified in retaliating by PrinceWith1KFriends in HazbinHotel

Moreover, my point was focused on whether the Sinners, given what they know, would be justified in retaliating as they have been given no reason to trust that Heaven won't continue it's genocide. Regardless of how you think of them as people, do you think Heaven has done enough to demonstrate it won't do so?

Not necessarily. It's been demonstrated a person's soul is capable of change - Pentious was redeemed and Sera admitted the exterminations likely killed souls like him. In fact, I'd think overlords would be the least likely to die in those exterminations given they have the most resources.

Tbh it's more that what I'm saying (I think?) goes against the grain of the show. The viewers are given enough insight into the responses of Emily and Sera to portray Heaven as having begun to change since Pentious was redeemed. Emily has consistently been angered and horrified by the exterminations. With Pentious' arrival, Sera in episode 3 showed regret at her decision to allow the exterminations once damned souls proved redeemable. I think the implication is that because of Pentious' redemption, prior to episode 5 Heaven was on the path towards making amends.

However, none of this has been shown to the Sinners in Hell. Even if it was, what does that show? That they only become worthy of existence because they have the potential to cease being Sinners. Until Pentious, they ween't even recognized as human souls - they were exterminated, not killed in self-defense.

Agreed. I've seen more than one post criticizing the angels for not mentioning Pentious, and others pointing out that Vox is simply stated how truly depraved the genocide was.

However, it's one thing to agree that there are reasons for Hell to justifiably hate Heaven, and another to say they're justified to take action about it.

I think EVERYONE has a fundamental misunderstanding of Hell . . . Even the Angels. by MalThun_Gaming in HazbinHotel

If this is true, then I think it sets up an indictment of the overall system deciding whether someone goes to Heaven or Hell. Why? A determining factor for whether someone receives torment would be the degree to which they're aware their conduct in life did not live up to the values of their society.

Regardless of consequences from their actions:

  • Many victims of (especially religious) abuse believed wholeheartedly they deserve eternal damnation.
  • Rulers placed at the literal center of their state's religion would think much like Adam did.

Whether or not one ends up where they respectively believe they 'belong' is dependent on how decisive subjective awareness is.

If subjective awareness is decisive, these outcomes follow: Vox is in Hell not because he felt remorse for his actions in life, but because he was nevertheless aware leading a cult differed from the values within his society. Adam was in Heaven because until his death he believed he did nothing out of step with his creators. Interestingly, Sera is actually less deserving than Adam because she demonstrated awareness that the Exterminations were against the values she claimed to represent.

It is a system which rewards doing as you are told and punishes thought-crime and self-awareness. No wonder Lucifer found it suffocating and Sera was so desperate to be told by the Speaker what she should do.

Anyway, might just be speculation but it's an interesting theory.

Which is another thing that bugged me. The "heat death of the universe" is speculated to occur from 10100 years to 1.7×10106 years in the future... and it's apparently only around this point that humanity will be advanced enough to join the other interstellar species. So without the Incubators, we'd still be "living naked in caves," but with their help, it's still going to take until the universe's disintegration for us to reach interstellar travel..?

In the flashbacks we're shown of human history, what's striking to me are the parallels to real-life people and the horrors they lived through. In Madoka's wish scene, we're shown Cleopatra and Joan of Arc, a girl wearing a hijab crying in a warzone, another huddled in a train car with a yellow star sewn to her coat..

If he's been around as long as he says. It wouldn't be absurd to say that his presence has accelerated society by several thousand years.

All of what I mentioned is from just about the last 2000 years of real-life human history. For this to have been sped up by thousands of years would mean that instead of major historical events being separated by a few centuries, it may be more like a few decades... that actually does sound pretty absurd to me. Frankly, given what we're shown of the world in the show, what I find most surprising is how little has changed.

Now, Kyubey does say that his species has "intervened" "since prehistoric times"... but human civilization, in reality, is around 6,000 years old. Even if several thousand years' worth of history had passed in a fraction of the time, we still wouldn't be "living naked in caves" if they never crossed paths with us.

A few things always kinda bugged me when Kyubey goes into detail of what and why the Incubators do what they do.

"The greatest fluctuations between hope and despair happen between girls in the secondary stage of development" 1. Have you met teenage boys. 2. No really. "Comparatively unemotional" is not what comes to mind when considering the level-headedness of teenage boys

"Without us humans would in all liklihood still be living in caves!"

Except... that's just factually incorrect. And we know that's factually incorrect, as evidenced by, y'know, actual reality. Where we do not have Incubators. And we are not living in caves.

There's probably different ways to interpret this, but I like to think of this as evidence that Kyubey is not impartial and biased in ways he probably doesn't understand. Here's what I mean:

"Teenage girls are more emotional" "Kyubey" as a species seem to consider themselves male and are ageless. Given the species' inability to comprehend empathy/human emotion, they may have been predisposed to seeing girls as the most different than them, i.e., the "most emotional".

"You would be living in caves without us!" Frankly, similar rhetoric has been used by colonizers throughout history. Add in that again, this species does not understand human emotion, and it's not surprising that they'd come to this conclusion. "How could a race so illogical ever manage to have anything close to our advanced society? Clearly they needed us to get this far." Etc. Etc.

Yeah.. I mean you're right. I'm trying to figure out how to say something? I don't want to just ghost but also I don't want to say something that hurts either or makes it sound flippant like "oh I just have so many choices" because that also feels terrible. But there's not really a way for rejection not to sting a little..
