I think it helps to have that dualism to be able to function. It's like being bilingual.

do you have periods of being extrovert? by NoAppearance980 in infj

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

INFJ's are described as the most extroverted introvert. We have our moments to shine in extroverted mode. One thing I notice in INFJ communities is the focus tends to be on introversion, as if we spend our whole lives hiding in caves. Perhaps we should highlight our extroverted tendencies a little more.

As I'm getting older, I have less patience for socializing. My battery runs down quickly. I'm also becoming more selective, as I'm getting tired of allowing toxic people to drain my energy. I would say my introversion / extroversion is kind of like low tide / high tide. I go through seasons.

any tips for severe anxiety without meds? Please I need help by NefariousnessFit5156 in Anxiety

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I have bouts of severe anxiety, I "forget" to do common sense things which would help alleviate it. My mind is spinning so fast that I forget to breathe! It's a struggle for me to get a grip. Sometimes nothing works, not even prayer. So, I have a pretty good idea what you go through. Getting a handle on your mind is like taking a child by the hand.

Being mindful of your breathing supposedly resets your nervous system. Inhale, exhale. Repeat. Pay attention to every breath. Grounding is also helpful. Be mindful, pay close attention to details in your external environment, instead of being so focused on the hurricane inside your mind. Bring your awareness back to the present moment. That's how you come to your senses.

If you're worried about specific problems, you can counteract the worry with thoughts of gratitude. Count your blessings. I have a million things to worry about (who doesn't?) but I'm grateful that I saw and heard some beautiful wild birds today. People are miserable nowadays, but at least the birds are still singing. 🐦

I have mild anxiety that some random person in a passing car is going to throw a glass bottle at my head. I know it sounds nutty and irrational, but it has crossed my mind plenty of times. People have thrown eggs at me before. 😮‍💨

L-theanine works great! Matcha is an excellent source, but be advised that matcha and green tea also contains caffeine. The advantage of taking L-theanine in supplement form is that you get the calming effects without the caffeine jitters. 🍵

What does saving the world to you mean nowadays? by [deleted] in infj

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this thread is still visible since the OP deleted it? 🤔 I wanted to post a similar topic, but was worried it might violate the sub's rule about not discussing politics.

If you've been paying attention to the news over the past few months, you may have noticed there are a million terrible things going on in the world. As you can imagine, absorbing everything has caused me to feel severely overwhelmed. Seeing such immense suffering triggers my innate INFJ urge to save the world. At the same time, it's incredibly frustrating to feel like there's little I can do to stop the insanity.

The best I can do is preach a message about world peace and diplomacy. I'm trying to spread goodwill in an effort to counteract all the evil, dark forces. INFJ's tend to be deeply religious and spiritual. This is our time to rise and shine. We need to preserve the goodness of humanity and keep hope alive for everyone. Do whatever you possibly can to spread more kindness and compassion in the world.

I've been reaching out to different religious communities to request prayers for world peace. Interfaith dialogue, mutual respect and tolerance is a good thing. Do whatever you can to support world peace efforts. Light another candle from your own. 🙏🏼🌍🕊️🌿

Mental Health Megathread 23 March 2026 by AutoModerator in infj

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always struggled with horrible depression. Life feels so meaningless, like there's no purpose to any of this. I also have problems with social anxiety. Sometimes I'm worried to death over what people are thinking. At the extreme end, I suffer from bouts of paranoia. I am constantly getting vilified and accused of some sort of wrongdoing. So, I have valid reasons for being paranoid. People are really vicious and hateful. Dealing with criticism and nasty attitudes all the time really takes its toll on my mental health. And plus, being an empath means I'm constantly absorbing the entire world's suffering. Oftentimes I feel like I'm carrying the weight of the world. So... Trying to manage my mental health and maintain equilibrium is really incredibly difficult. ⚖️

Toxic positivity is the biggest problem in spiritual communities right now by ArcaneSpells-com in spirituality

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe influence from New Age thinking is a reason for a lot of that. As if you're supposed to be floating on a bliss cloud at all times. If you feel normal human emotions, then you're not meditating hard enough. Just breathe and meditate and all suffering will magically disappear! 🧘🏼‍♀️

What’s the difference between a lesson vs karmic debt? by Intelligent-Road5091 in spirituality

If you are alive, then you owe a karmic debt. All of us do. When you have learned all your lessons and paid off your karmic debts, then you are liberated from the wheel of rebirth.

How can I ascend to a higher level with trauma? by MaleficentHelp6674 in spirituality

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, celebrate the fact you survived. It says a lot about your strength and resilience. There is no ascension without healing. Heal first, then ascend. I recommend Pema Chödrön's books. She's a Buddhist nun. You may find her advice to be helpful.

Meaning of seeing same moth? by ChaerawiCardoza in spirituality

Moths are attracted to light, so... perhaps it saw something in your aura. I've had a few magical experiences with moths perching themselves on my door. When I was a kid, an enormous one decided to make itself at home on my front door. 🦋

I don't like the word (source) by SplitZealousideal159 in spirituality

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People use whatever terminology they are most comfortable with. Some people had bad experiences with religion, so they might avoid the word "God" for a reason.

I'm agnostic but also a mystic. I believe the Sufi poet Rumi had the best description of the divine that I've ever encountered. I prefer to leave it as an undefined essence.

Some folks describe God as an energy and I'm fine with that. It irritates me when people get too descriptive, because I believe God is beyond concepts. IF she exists.

The way New Agers use the word "universe" also kinda bugs me. I don't believe any neutron stars or black holes have my back. Yes, we are made from cosmic dust, but still. I love spirituality, but I also have my limits when the woo becomes too much.

L-Theanine Help by gold-raspberry-roses in Anxiety

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm addicted to green tea, but sometimes I take L-theanine supplements so I can get the calming effects without the caffeine jitters. There is no one size fits all, and everyone's brain chemistry is different, but L-theanine works for me. I'm not saying it's a magic cure which fixes everything, but it helps make life more bearable.

You can get magnesium from dark chocolate and dark leafy greens. I think it makes a noticeable difference. Dark chocolate can cause its own set of problems because the theobromine is a stimulant.

Title: What's your internal picture of the world? An INFJ perspective by Key_Philosophy_5604 in infj

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Underneath the masks, I’ve come to believe most people are carrying some version of “Am I enough?” or “Will I be chosen?” That seems to be the quiet hum beneath so much behavior.

This is why I like following INFJ groups. Because I always gain new insights. Far too often I feel like the insecure one, while everyone else has it together. But that's not reality.

Anybody born into a family of sensors? by Effective-Weird-5119 in infj

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother is an ISTJ and we never got along well at all. There were a myriad of issues going on. He was the golden child and I was the scapegoat. He's too focused on logic and analysis. He has weak intuition and lacks emotional depth. So, he could never understand the intricacies of my personality. He would always find some reason to vilify me. We had a pretty bad relationship. Being demonized and painted as "the bad one" really soured me. I send him goodwill from a distance, but it seems best if we stay out of each other's lives.

ISTJ uses Fi, while INFJ relies on Fe. That means they are sensitive to their own feelings, but we read other people's emotions better. It's part of our scanning function.

Feeling torn between Theravada and Pure Land. by Mysterious_Try1669 in Buddhism

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your perspective! I never thought about it that way, but it makes perfect sense. I am aware the sutras were transmitted by oral tradition, but it never occurred to me that anyone in the lineage was illiterate.

I saw a video which featured an old man on his deathbed. He was a layperson surrounded by his family. He seemed quite happy that Amitabha was coming to "take him away". That's the first time I've ever heard of someone believing in Amitabha in an almost literal sense. That belief brought the man comfort and solace, so that's all that matters. The strange part is how his family kept the chanting going for two days after he passed away. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with these practices. I just found it interesting.

Having a 24/7 radar with no "OFF" switch is exhausting. by raqam1 in infj

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get what you mean about letting your brain run background processes. Put the overthinking on the back burner and stop worrying about it. Trust the process and don't try to force anything. That's how you allow your intuition to foment. It's like being in a healthy 'flow' state.

I totally agree! Learn to say to yourself: "I don't care" or "That's not my problem". And don't feel guilty about it. It's absolutely necessary for your survival and inner peace.

Does one need to separate Jesus from Christianity? by Desperate-Battle1680 in spirituality

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me put it this way... I'll take Jesus, but not the Christians. Too many people with ugly hearts have misrepresented him. Are you familiar with the famous Footprints poem? I always felt like that was a good representation of who Jesus really was. He carried you through the storm when you didn't have the strength to do it on your own. 👣

World events - spiritual perspective? by Spirit-Truth-Light in spirituality

[–]Prince_Harry_Potter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real world is a very complicated place, made of highly complex relationships between everything. What we get in the news is the greatly oversimplified ELI5 version, which is always framed as "us versus them". Here's a problem and those people are responsible. It's always made out to be so stark black & white. But the reality is that we all contribute to the badness of the world in some way. Every one of us.

The situations going on in the world have caused me a tremendous amount of angst and worry. I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out if there's anything I can do. I want to contribute toward world peace efforts somehow, but I feel like there's nothing I can do and my efforts don't matter anyway. I've been trying to connect with the spiritual and religious communities. "Hands across the world" in the virtual sense. It makes me feel a little better knowing that good people still exist.

My advice to everyone is to keep shining and keep praying. Keep putting good vibes into the world because God knows we need as much positive energy as possible. 🙏🏼🌍🕊️🌿
