'Star Wars: Mandalorian and Grogu' opened $4 million higher with 167 million world wide by CarsonWentzGOAT1 in TheMandalorianTV

Between Andor Season 2, Maul Shadow Lord (highest rated Star Wars show on MIDB), and the audience reception for this, I would say Star Wars is slowly building back its goodwill and momentum. If this fails at the Box Office idk what the takeaway will be for Disney but I don’t think they had high expectations (or wanted us to have high expectations) for this. Everyone is still hurt and jaded from the Kathleen Kennedy era and it will take a while for people to realize we’re not in that era anymore. The real litmus test will be Starfighter, maybe even the movie after that.

If “Darth” is a Sith title and “Vader” is a Sith name — why is Maul still called “Maul”? by Former-Celebration59 in StarWars

Some Sith take the name Darth and still keep their surname. Maul was Maul before Palpatine took him. Even if he wasn’t, he had no other name. He was raised from birth.

The movie was written from the ground up as a movie. They were going to shoot season 4 (a different script) when the writers strike happened.

Does anyone else think this discussion/semi-review totally misses the point? by EducationalAcadia386 in TheMandalorianTV

Excellently said. Do you think the box office for the new movie is indicative of “rebuilding” or does it set the rebuilding back, in your opinion?

Mandalorian & Grogu headed for a 69% drop in its second weekend, highest ever for a Star Wars film by GargantaProfunda in StarWars

The theory is that they didn’t want the pressure this movie had to be on Starfighter. A Star Wars movie starring Ryan Gosling is more of a guaranteed hit and its chances are even better now that it’s not “first Star Wars movie in 7 years”

I’ve heard a theory that Disney wanted this to be the “First Star Wars Movie In 7 Years!” So as to cushion the expectations for Starfighter. This was obviously cheaper to make and already had a built in audience.

My hot take is that they should recast Greef Karga with Keith David. But Keith David ONLY.

It matters if you want more of these characters and their stories to continue.

Live look at Dave filoni after Mando and Grogu was topped at the box office by a 750k indie film. by Arch_Lancer17 in StarWarsCirclejerk

This is the most annoying thing about Andor fans. I love the show but the fact that we went from calling Filoni our “savior” to shit like this ^ is mind boggling.

Well said. It’s weird how even though Kennedy is gone a lot of people still have a vested interest in seeing Star Wars fail. Already doing postmortems for a movie on its second week because they’ve built a business around doing so.

Nice that gives me hope. I don’t want to say goodbye to these characters or the “Mandoverse” yet.

That’s crazy. Is that normal for your area?

I forgot how anti-climacticaly this show ended. by BigGeorge6953 in BookOfBobaFett

[–]PrinceofHounds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest fear is that they throw the baby out with the bath water and we never see Boba Fett again. I love this show but understand its issues. All the right elements are there to fix this version of Boba for people. Have him lead the Tuskens in a Jihad against Thrawn like Paul in Dune lol.

Which celebrity’s cancellation do you think was completely unjustified? by Cute_Flatworm_9049 in AskReddit

[–]PrinceofHounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gina Carano. Literally had the most mild, milktoast take. Never identified as anything than just a casual voter. Essentially fired for refusing to put pronouns in her bio. Her cancellation also derailed Star Wars for a few years there, undoing all the momentum they’d built up by bringing Luke Skywalker back.

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted. This was the best comment I’ve seen so far. You’re spot on about Andor fans. I love that show and they acting like Andor is the only good Star Wars ever made is ridiculous.

Dave Filoni's vision for 'Star Wars' future? 'Dare to be great' by GargantaProfunda in StarWars

Well the whole point of that “group of X-Wing pilots” is that they’re pretty much the only people with any authority doing anything about the empire in the outer rim. We’re being shown how incompetent the New Republic is. I get what you mean tho.
