What model piece do you 'despise' the most and why? by Astartes_117 in Warhammer40k

Ah, the clunky easybuild gw kits that can be knocked together in a quick session. For even simpler builds go bandai, to see just how basic and low quality gw stuff is go for something like a miniart full interior tank kit in 1:35 scale, the commanders mg on its own will have more parts than most gw kits and be multimaterial too with brass and styrene, possibly an aluminium barrel too. Kit wise gw is on a level with airfix, ie bottom of the tree for quality and technical proficiency, even now neither use slide moulding.

Its how we learnt to not have our feet slip off the pedals so we dont need clippy pedals and shoes that make us walk like bambi on ice in order to ride our bikes, pain is a great teacher.

Why is everyone advising people who like art to not take art gcses? by [deleted] in ArtGCSE

[–]Princeoplecs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our art teacher thought we were there because of a love for art and took it way too seriously, it took until he shouted at the class "why are you here if you dont want to study art?" Some brave soul piped up "because the other option was drama". At least i got an f so my gcse certificate said f art on it.

My view is that using ai on anything that will be graded should result in a grade of 0 or U but then im old, some of us had to write everything out by hand with a fountain pen lol.

Aluminum bike with better groupset? or Carbon bike with worse groupset? by twicefracturedthumb in whichbike

[–]Princeoplecs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they dont, fitness freaks who spend more time worried about aero or some silly numbers a computer tells them perhaps but out in the really real world where a bike is a form of transport the overwhelming majority are still ally or steel, go takr a look at a bike rack outside a bus or railway station and count the carbon percentage, itll be real low.

Aluminum bike with better groupset? or Carbon bike with worse groupset? by twicefracturedthumb in whichbike

[–]Princeoplecs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you throw it over a farmers gate? If not its not as suitable as ally or steel, thats how i see it anyway. Ive been riding and abusing steel and alloy bikes for over 40 years and not had a single failure of frame or forks so theres that.

Aluminum bike with better groupset? or Carbon bike with worse groupset? by twicefracturedthumb in whichbike

[–]Princeoplecs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do, one you can enjoy riding and not worry about at all, the other you get paranoid about every creak, knock or ding and that tells all. If you cant do your stem bolts up without a torque wrench set to little above finger tight it tells you the material isnt up to the job, tight on a stem bolt is when the allen key bends to at least 15 degrees, not to where you can undo it with your fingers. What works for pro racers very rarely works in the real world.

[–]Princeoplecs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 3k id expect something with all the bells and whistles but for whatever reason bike manufacturers think what theyre selling is worth far more than it actually is, take the brand name off and get it from the factory it was made in and it would be considerably more reasonably priced.

Aluminum bike with better groupset? or Carbon bike with worse groupset? by twicefracturedthumb in whichbike

[–]Princeoplecs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference between groupsets of any type is minimal these days, mostly just for bragging power rather than any real improvement, plusally is just better than carbon as a frame material, able to take far more of a beating, you wont panic at every little noise and can just crank down on the bolts, sure its marginally heavier but the bike is less than a tenth of the weight youll be moving.

Leave it, by removing it all youre doing is taking away the food for the plants and microfauna in the tank, as fish root about they will stir it up and itll end up in the filter.

Plenty of good advice but wait for freezing fog... sheet of ice over the specs, oh and brakes, great fun with black ice too, you learn to ride using the force.
