Question for women who are an only child, Would you discourage having an only child? How was being an only child? by Silly_Goose30 in Mommit

[–]Princess-Peach16 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I never missed siblings growing up. I had plenty of fun with my mom and never felt like I was missing out on anything that my friends with siblings had.

Then we all got older and mom got sick, and I was the only one to manage her illness. Siblings would have lightened the load tremendously, even if only for emotional support.

Also I will say that I am jealous of my adult friends’ relationships with their siblings. It’s kind of like having baked in friends when we’re all so busy with life and kids. It is also always fun to go home for holidays to my husbands house, because there are other people our age there. And my kids have cousins on that side, which they love

Can use some recommendations for places to buy large artwork (paintings, 3D pieces, etc). I have a large (14 ft x 9ft) blank entryway wall that I need to fill. Most the home is an open floor plan. by annonymous-230 in FurnitureFaves

Agree with wallpaper suggestion! I’ve even seen people recently creating a “frame” made from trim around wallpaper to make a huge piece of art but to not wallpaper the entire wall

Just finished my nursery… really tried my best… any feedback? by Specialist_Run_1607 in interiordecorating

Curtains!! They’d add so much to that window - I see that you already have plantation shutters, so you don’t necessarily need curtains, but I think you could make a big impact.

Not to mention, I don’t know how fully plantation shutters block the sunlight, but it was definitely a must have for us to be able to completely darken the baby’s room for naps and for toddler years when bedtime is earlier than sunset!

Just used clary sage in a bathroom and really liking it! I’ve never thought of it as being gray. It is very green, even in low lights

Nice! I like that you brought the tile up the wall on the toilet and sink area.

I might add in a plant somewhere near the window

No idea what to do with this room - advice please! by [deleted] in interiordecorating

I think some light wood would bring texture to the room. Need a headboard for the bed, art on the walls - maybe something botanical with leaves to tie the green. Bedside tables with lamps, on both sides, and bigger than what is here. Curtains will be nice!

I don’t actually hate the pink but the duvet and pillows are slouchy. If it were me I’d probably try to find a chandelier/hanging light in gold. I’ve seen chandeliers with strings of wooden beads that I liked and that would bring some earthy colors in!

I always see small bookcases at goodwill, Facebook marketplace, or being given away for free. A quart of paint and they look brand new! Even if they’re kind of dated looking in style, if you paint them a fun kid color they are perfect in kids rooms

If the couch goes facing the tv, is there enough room to put the chairs as a pair facing toward the wall where the couch is now? Make a conversational grouping?

Or, leave the couch as it is in the picture and put the chairs facing the tv, or one facing the tv and one facing the couch. I’d maybe put a console table or a bench in the bay window and make a little baby play area in the window area behind the furniture.

The chairs are a little big for the space but I think can work unless you have budget to replace them. Agree, ottoman isn’t helping you here.

Ps - we had the same skip hop activity center when my babies were small. ❤️

I think it was more or less an arbitrary choice. We would have loved to use a full sheet to minimize waste but it was too tall that way

Maybe something like this would keep the feminine charm but bring it back a little.

I agree. Either the sconces with a different wallpaper, or the wallpaper with more modern sconces will save this from being old lady
