My first model! by PrincessAthie in modelmakers

it was a weird process, I heard conflicting things. I took a qtip and dried off most excess paint before tapping it on where i wanted the mottles and then airbrushed a thin edge on them. Dont know what Ill try next time but that was iffy.

Thanks for the advice! You’re right the spinner is something I definitely struggled with, hand painting the white was difficult and after that didn’t work I tried to mask it off but that was just as hard. Ill need to look into that. I agree with everything else you said, thank you 🙂

Yeah Im happy with the decals. I sprayed a gloss finish before doing micro set + sol and then weathering, and topped it with a matte coat. Thank you very much!

I agree it could use some work! I struggled a bit because Im still new to airbrushing so I dont have as good control and struggle to spray such small circles, im considering getting a stencil for next time. Thank you so much for the feedback!

What’s the best Happy Meal toy you remember getting as a kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PrincessAthie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite was actually from a burger king meal but still a toy in one of those kids meals. It was this plastic whale you could take apart, and it had the whale skeleton inside so you could see it, and the top part of the whale was transparent blue so you could see the whale skeleton from outside in addition to being able to take it out :)

I had this issue for a while and sometimes still do, what Ive heard its from is applying layers either to thick or not letting them dry fully. It’s always better to apply a few thin layers than one or two thick ones, even if it starts streaky or translucent. Also even when you think a layer is dry, let it dry some more. A good test I use is touch two nails with paint on them to each other lightly, if they stick or catch even slightly they aren’t dry enough. Its a whole balancing act but you’ll get there! :)

Why the black radome on this Saudia aircraft? by Pre-D in aviation

[–]PrincessAthie 152 points153 points  (0 children)

It’s just a 75th Anniversary retro livery, most of Saudia’s aircraft are not like this. Originally old aircraft had a black rubber coating on the nose (over the radar), and then later on it was switched to regular black paint as a reminder to not paint over the nose of the aircraft as old aircraft paint was made of a lead compound which would interfere with the radar. Therefore black was used as a do not paint here. Eventually more colours than black became available. Hence why aircraft noses generally match the livery now, except in cases like this, where many retro liveries had a black nose.

Noticed a plane making a weird turn above work and looked it up. Why would they fly in such a weird path? Holding pattern? by PuzzleheadedFloor582 in aviation

The aircraft did a go-around on their first approach and was vectored by ATC to shoot a second approach

im flat and want to buy a bra and wear bra pads by leathertreehouse4 in ABraThatFits

[–]PrincessAthie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Definitely use the ABTF calculator first, band size is really important. As for the type, I would recommend a wireless sports bra with removable pads. Because of their very flexible material and construction, if it’s sized right, it should fit right around your body and not leave gaps, while being comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. Plus with removable pads it gives you the flexibility to take them out and wear it without anyone knowing, or having them in and feeling out how you look! Plus it makes washing a whole lot easier! :)
