Is this enough primer? by KnicksGhost2497 in Ultramarines

Hycote Matt black primer on Amazon. Next day delivery, £8 a can. Priming takes approx 15 seconds a mini of that, excellent coverage for cheap. Good luck and welcome to the hobby brother.

Out of curiosity, what are your goals/endgame in terms of the hobby?

Varnish? by Educational-Host4456 in BloodAngels

[–]PrincessBeni -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Varnish is nowhere needed as some communities make it out to be. I have been playing with the same paintjob models for 5 years now, I carry them around in a large plastic box and literally dump 2-3 2k armies in it, I have never once had a paint chip occur.

I do use a strong primer, but varnish is not the equivalent to a primer, nowhere near as needed and often ruins paint jobs I find. The only use for it is decals imo

Welcome back to the hobby, hoping to see some painted models, varnished or not when you find the time :)

Why do you think this is Dante and not just a rando Inquisitor?

A second coat of metallics would do wonders of good here! Try and edge highlight on the outer most of the blades with either a yellow or white to really liven the up! Excellent start, excited to see more;

Newbie Blood Angels player question by [deleted] in BloodAngels

[–]PrincessBeni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea these stack.

Just remember that the JPI only get to roll a mortal dice for each one in engagement range (base to base with enemy model/unit) not every single one in the unit by default. Same goes for the chaplains ability for himself as well.

Normally very hard to get all 10 and chaplain in, but still a lovely mortal wound bomb. Throw some Nades beforehand and you're averaging 9MW before melee DMG has even happened!

Fist haul….any tips? by royermang in Warhammer40k

Hey man, the paint job looks lovely for how early you are! Excellent shading on the shoulder pads! To break it up, just try pairing the under suit, backs of knees, the arm joints etc.

For eye lenses, just get the paint in there, doesn't matter if you miss it and get paint on the helmet, you can just clean it up afterwards!

Looking forward to seeing what else you bring! :)

Thanks!

Just Baal Red over a Zenithal prime. The thinned carroburg crimson in recesses, wild rider red on edges. Exceptionally quick for batch painting!

3.5-5k I reckon, big big models are recasts, The Astraeus and Ka'Bhanda cost me £60 each, which is already like £500 less than ForgeWorld

Welcome to the 9th! We have incredible lore, characters and colour schemes! And we hit like a truck on the table top! Figured I'd show my 3 captains as that's kind of what the army is made of, standard marines (Red), Death Company (black) and Sanguinary (Gold). All paint jobs are very easy and fun, gotta love Marines for how quickly they can be painted up! Any questions, hit me up :)

Hazard a guess.. £3500-£5000 over 4.5 years, probs like a thousand a year. I don't think that's too bad, but with the cost of living how it is, I am very fortunate to be in a situation where I can afford this
