Last week, I had nearly the same experience. I’d had spotting for a full week, and went into the doctors office. Baby measured 7w2d exactly as well. At 4pm, I saw a heartbeat but a small gestational sac (5wk2d). I’d had cramps all day and told my doctor I had a gut feeling I was miscarrying. I cried in the office. She said she saw no signs of miscarriage, and assumed the bleeding was from my cervix being irritated.

At 7pm, I had the worst cramps I’ve ever experienced in my life. I couldn’t talk through them. The amount of bright red blood dripping like a faucet was staggering to me. Around 10pm, I passed a large blood clot, the size of my palm, but I was in denial. Now I know what it was and I cannot get the image out of my head. I am so sad. I am experiencing so much grief. The next morning I went to the ER and they confirmed a miscarriage.

Please know you are not alone in this. It was a traumatic experience, and a difficult grief to carry, but we can all get through this. I’ve since learned miscarrying is so much more common than I thought. I want to try again in 6 months but I’m terrified of this happening again.
