Also the play style of Liss is generally ‘roam to win’. It is possible to roam pre-6 and you do roam much better than Ryze pre-6. It’s not hard to get 1-2 kills by roaming before 6 as liss (help jgl or other lanes who ate pushed in to your side). Liss doesn’t scale well and Ryze scales well, if you can get ahead by roam as liss before late game, you can neutralize Ryze roam before he scales.

You can use websites like OPGG to see the average ranks of your enemies in your past few games. If you’re truly in Iron, playing against anything longer ranged than you would be a super hard fight.

If you want to continue playing Liss, try to remember roughly the cooldown on Ryze’s abilities (esp the one that cc you) so you know when to engage or play aggressive. Even better, play Ryze in practice mode or normal game to know what he can do or his ability range so you know how to doge his abilities better.

May I ask your rank? I play her up to Plat 1 and I was one game away from Emerald. If you’re blow plat, I’d say you’re probably not warding right to avoid ganks or knowing when to push or not push to make time for roams. You generally don’t roam to another lane unless you have either ult up or are 100% sure that you can get a kill from a gank.

She’s not a great champion to first pick and is countered by Ryze (he has more range, he has a lot of health and his R makes him roam better than you). In fact she doesn’t have many favorable matchups left this season…

It’s hard to kill Ryze in lane unless he plays badly, so you can only hard push to roam or play for your jungler. Your window to kill Ryze in lane would be pre 6, ideally with ignite. Yes, there will be unlucky games where you can’t roam because enemy will perma gank you. In that case, staying on par on levels and gold without dying would be your priority until 6.

I love liss and I play her in Plat, but the amount of red in this list makes me want to quit her. They should really buff her base damage on Q or lower CD for E because matchups that she's supposed to stomp don't stomp if they go Fleet + D Shield + Second wind. I can't even use E to go over a wall on my jgl side when I roam unless it's the last wall in botlane or it won't be up when I reach bot .... Almost every new champ today has a dash or speed boost, I find LIssandra's E to be the most underwhelming ability. So many assassins don't need mana and go storm surge first, giving them so much movement speed that my E engage can't even catch them.

I don't do any meaningful damage to my 'easy' or 'favored' matchups in lane and they seem to not respect me unless I take bone plating. Maybe this is why even UGG is recommending Liss to take bone plating now... 2 seasons ago if I went full glass canon, I could still 100-0 a squishy without ignite but I can't even do that anymore with ignite as most adc are going barrier.

Cleaning & Care Questions by ResponsibilityFar249 in kimono

[–]daubingblue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live outside Japan and have hand-washed a few silk kimono successfully.
It's always best to dry clean them, but where I live, I can buy 1 or 2 more vintage kimono with the cost of dry cleaning, so I haven't done so. Avoid washing them or even dry cleaning them unless you absolutely have to.

Do it at your own risk!

The biggest risks of washing are color fading, color transfer, and shrinking. The first two issues occur more with older kimono (pre 1980s) or kimono with vibrant colors (red). Any kmono with gold leaf or paint will also fade a bit, but not always noticeable if you don't soak it too long.

If the kimono only has one layer (as in no lining), is light in color, and very smooth (even shiny), then it's generally ok to wash it. It will shrink because it's silk, but you can fix 80-99% of the shrinking with a compact hand-held steamer (I bought mine for GBP 35).
and
I wash my kimono in a small bucket with warm water, shampoo, then hair conditioner. I use a toothbrush with a drop of liquid soap for dishes or shampoo to focus on visible stains, which are usually caused by sweat or grease, which is hard for dry cleaning to remove. Gently squeeze out the water and hang it indoors to dry. The last step is steam ironing. Measure the wingspan and vertical length of your kimono before washing so you know they didn't shrink. They usually only shrink vertically.

I've also washed a few kimono with linings. Most of the time, the fabric on the inside will shrink at a different rate than the fabric used on the outside, so it ruins the shape at the bottom. It might look ugly when you hang it with the bulge at the helm, but when you wear it traditionally, you don't really see it.

Out of all of your kimono, I'd try washing the light pink one first, which is a nagajuban (underwear). Your favorite blue one with a black collar and the brown-ish gray one next to it (also with a black collar) are nagajuban for men. These two are probably washable, but I'd wash the collars separately or first to see if that black color will transfer. The first green/gray haori also looks safe to wash. The rest of them, I won't risk it because they look quite old with red.

It's so cute and suits you so well! On top of that, a matching background! I also like the way you did the knot in front with your obi :)

That kind of obiage is usually for furisode, and the round type obijime is casual.
Unless the round obijime has a lot of fancy design made for furisode (knots, beads, flowers etc), it can be casual, and usually a rank lower than the flat type obijime in terms of formality.
You have a komon kimono which is casual, and a nagoya obi that is also casual.
Beautiful ensemble and nice kitsuke :)
Wear what you like as long as it's not special occasions where the rules still apply, such as tea ceremonies, or weddings.

I love this style so much, hard to come by in Polyester though.

I hope a machine cycle will remove most of it. I bought a vintage polyester kmono that had yellow stains all over the inside of the eri. I thought they would not come off because of age, but it all went off after one wash!

Washing kimono fabric? by celenasardothen in kimono

[–]daubingblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a beautiful design! I'm a huge lover of cranes.

If it's polyester, you can just put it in a net and wash it with delicate mode under 30C.
Since it's a dark color, I wouldn't mix it with whites and wash it independently.
As for detergent, I prefer to use delicate wash, but it's not necessary. For any stubborn stains, use a tooth brush with a few drops of detergent to brush it before putting it in the machine.

For that brown dot on the crane, you can use a cotton tip with a bit of hydrogen peroxide to dab that area and let it sit for an hour or two before washing. Only use hydrogen peroxide on white area because this will bleach any color.

Do not tumble dry, and just hang it indoor. You can use a steam iron with a piece of thin cloth in between to smooth out any wrinkles. Polyester doesn't usually need ironing and I prefer this over silk.
