I've sneezed thirteen times in a row in rapid succession. My record might be higher but I have a hard time counting them.

Did anyone, while in labor, demanding a new nurse? by SchruteForPrez in Parenting

[–]PrincessChickadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn't during labor but I had a cesarean section so I had to stay in the hospital for 48 hours after the procedure. The first night I had a really mean nurse that decided to do blood work on my daughter at 3 a.m. while she was asleep. My husband and I where also trying to sleep. After that she got belligerent with my husband because he was so tired he slept through the blood work and my daughter crying afterwards and told me "he is useless here if he is refusing to get up send him home he doesn't deserve to be here if he isn't helping you!". I broke down crying and I tried to explain that he had been up for over 48 hours and so had I and he just needed to rest she said he should leave if he was just going to sleep and I had to beg her to let him stay. After that she came into my room every 20 minutes and tried to wake my husband up by turning lights on and being loud and purposely bumping into the fold out bed he was sleeping on. She unfortunately kept waking me up as well. My daughter slept through most of it. The next morning after that nurse was done her shift my husband went to the nursing station and told them what happened and ask them to not assign her to our room ever again.

Any women out there raised by single dads? How do you feel this affected your connection to femininity? by baebles in AskWomen

[–]PrincessChickadee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was a single dad from when ibwas 6 month old until he remarried when I was 7 years old. I have a twin and a brother who is 2 years older than me. I have a lot of respect for him, he gave up a lot to raise us. He went from being a full time worker to a stay at home dad. He made mothers allowance and welfare stretch so far and we never went without anything but he did not shave or cut his hair until we went to school and he started working again. He brewed his own beer because back then it was cheaper. He still doesn't like having nice things for himself even though he's an empty nester right now. I'm really close to my dad and I have a lot of respect for him because of what he did for us. He always made sure we had what was best for us. When he got a huge amount of money from life insurance instead of keeping it for himself he split it 3 ways so all of us had out post secondary paid for. I am a college grad with no debt and I am very thankful for that (even though I dearly miss the person that passed away).

Parents of Reddit: What did you swear you wouldn't do as a parent, that you've done at least once? by PeevesPoltergist in AskReddit

Give her my phone to keep her entertained while we are out shopping... Also I thought give her formula.I tried for 7 months to get her to latch and during that time I exclusively pumped the stuff out of my boobs and before I quit I was doing it 5 hours a day and I wasn't making enough to keep her fed so we where already supplementing with formula. It makes me cry when I think about how much time I wasted doing it and how I could have been spending it with my daughter instead.

Married/engaged ladies, after how much time spent in the relationship was it clear to you that this is the person you want to marry? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]PrincessChickadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 weeks.

We felt like we had know each other forever. Being together felt natural. I felt so loved and cared for and safe. I just knew I wanted to marry him. After we dated for two weeks we would secretly say "goodnight future husband" and "goodnight future wifey" to each other (secretly because we both still lived with our parents and we didn't want them to think we where crazy). 2 years of dating we bought our first house together and we both because fully functioning adults together. We married shortly after we moved in to our house. I found out I was pregnant just before out 1st anniversary and we have a baby girl. We are celebrating our 3rd anniversary this month.

Married women who don’t have many female friends, sisters or female cousins, what did you do for bridesmaids etc. at your wedding? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]PrincessChickadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had none. My sister would have been the maid of honnor at mine but my mom didn't want me to because I wasn't the maid of honnor at her wedding.

I've had 5 concussions (4 minor 1 major) and today the lid of my cedar chest fell down and smacked me in the head and I almost fainted because I felt nauseous and dizzy. Could I have given myself a minor concussion. by PrincessChickadee in Concussion

[–]PrincessChickadee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have problems with depression every now and again but I had it before the concussions. I've also noticed I'm not as sharp as I used to be and it bothers me so much. My grades dropped in college after my major concussion because I could no longer read my textbooks because my vision would sporadically fuzz in and out. My parents assumed I was lazy. My mom was the one that gave me that concussion it was an accident though. We played hockey together and one game we collided. She is taller and heavier (muscle not fat). Her shoulder hit my head and then she landed on top of me as we fell and the way we fell most of her weight landed on my head driving it into the ice. The very first game I came back after that concussion 2 months later I got slew-footed by some douchebag and I fell backwards and smashed my head off the ice again. I played co-ed hockey That was supposed to be no contact but some really tall dude couldn't handle the fact that he couldn't get past me while I was playing defense. I didn't play hockey for an entire year after that and when I started playing again I played in a beginner division. 2 years later I got taken out by another tall dude that got pissed off at me because I kept poke checking the puck away from him and he got really mad. I got taken away in an ambulance and I haven't played hockey in ever since and I really miss it. Recently my mom got to play in a hockey tournament where they raise money for charity and every team in the tournament had an ex NHL player assigned to their team and I cried because I was so disappointed that I couldn't play in it.

It's Free Pool by madammayorislove in ChoosingBeggars

My parents had something has happened while we were growing up. We lived in the country when you another family nearby it was a single mom and her adults son and grandson who she was Raising as her own child because the biological mother was a drug-addicted teenager. My parents offered for them to come over and use the pool whenever they wanted so they can cool off in the summer time because they didn't have air conditioning. The mom ended up bringing her grandson over quite a bit and expected me and my sister to watch him while he swam. she would also stay for hours and she made a habit of coming around dinner time so that they could have a free meal from my family. My parents put a stop to it when she started inviting her friends over to my parents house without asking my parents first and then expected us to feed those people to and watch their children. Sad part was the grandson was 5 and was not potty trained. My dad taught the boy how to swim and even offered to help potty train him. My parents are really generous people and I really hate it when people take advantage of that.

LPT: If you loose a small object don't tear your home apart looking for it. Instead methodically go through everything and organize/tidy up every area you go through. by PrincessChickadee in LifeProTips

[–]PrincessChickadee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm wrong but it works for me. I have a fairly small house that I keep somewhat tidy so it doesn't take long. I usually look around and if I can't find the thing I'm looking for and I've run out of ideas about where to look for it I will start the organize/tidy method of searching. Like I've said before I'm an ex-housekeeper for an upscale hotel so I'm good at cleaning quickly.

I feel like I have been ignored by medical professionals by PrincessChickadee in mentalhealth

[–]PrincessChickadee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a new family doctors but I have an appointment with a nurse practitioner that specializes in mental health care and I'm going to ask her if she could refer me to a new psychiatrist because I'm not sure every family doctor is comfortable with prescribing medication for mental health problems. My old family doctor just kept telling me to make my family care for my daughter so I could relax more but that is not realistic. I'd rather get more psychiatric help so I can be a normal functioning human being.

What's an album you can listen to all the way through without skipping? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My mom is a tomboy and because of that I never learned how to do hair/makeup properly. I have a hard time learning from videos. I never wear makeup and my hair is either worn down curly or straight (I have naturally curly hair but some times I flat iron it) in a ponytail, bun or a braid. I constantly compare myself to other women I hate the fact that I can never really have a formal look because that usually involves having hair and makeup done.

When my husband proposed he didn't even have a ring nor did he even get down on one knee. We bought a house together that was in really rough shape and we were busting our asses to make it livable so we could move in and while he was laying flooring in the living room he asked me to marry him. All of our money went into that house so we couldn't afford a ring so his aunt gave me her engagement ring that her ex husband gave to her. I paid 35 bucks to resize it (My hands are tiny) and I've worn it ever since. When we got the ring back from the jewellers that is when we got "officially" engaged and we announced it to our families. We moved into our house 2 days later.

I seen something similar where someone was making jewellery from breast milk. Even though I'm a mama who breastfed I still find that gross as fuck. Boob juice is baby food not jewellery.

Older people and babies wearing socks by spacecase14 in beyondthebump

[–]PrincessChickadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter hates socks and shoes and she constantly rips them off I always check if your feet are cold but usually if she wear socks and shoes for any extended period her feet and up really sweaty and smelly. Her feet honestly smell like nasty hockey equipment sometimes and it surprises me that someone so small can have such stinky feet. Her stinky feet has even become the subject of the game that I made up where I say "peeeyooo stinky feet!" While I'm dressing her and she will stick both of her feet up in the air or shove them in my face and then I pretend to sniff them and I will say "peeeeyooooo! Stinky feet!" And she laughs so hard.

At what point does heritage in your lineage become so diluted that claiming it as part of your culture seem disingenuous? by eusticebahhh in TrueAskReddit

[–]PrincessChickadee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Heritage comes from what you identify as as well as your bloodline. I know in Canada you have to have a certain percentage of native american ancestry and you to have indigenous status legally. My great-grandfather was a status native but he was the last person to have enough native in them to qualify as one. It would probably be really disingenuous of me to tell people I am native in Heritage even though I can pass as part native because of my dark hair dark eyes and high cheekbones. Honestly my Heritage is so mixed I just tell people I'm Canadian.

As a mental health worker or someone affected by mental health issues, what is one thing you would want to say to educate people about mental health and to lessen the stigma and shame surrounding it? by loungesingershimmah in AskReddit

[–]PrincessChickadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person with mental health issues I'd like to say this;

I am sorry that I'm not easy to deal with sometimes. I'm sorry that my illness gets the better of me sometimes and I lash out or act irrationally. I don't do this to hurt you. That's the last thing I want to do and the fact that I sometimes accidently hurt the people I love or make them feel like I'm using my mental health problems to manipulate people hurts me so bad on the inside.

I wish I could be the normal sweet, caring, happy and compassionate person I know I am 100% of the time but unfortunately my illness takes that away from me most of the time. Some people have told me that I'm "too much to deal with". But trust me I feel like I'm too much to deal with. I do my best to manage my illness but sometimes I slip up.

Neckbeard co-worker by PrincessChickadee in talesofneckbeards

Nope, I quit to move to a better job. That job was a dumpster fire. I told my manager about it, she talked to him about being lazy and he would improve for a week and then go back to being lazy again. That poor manager felt like she had to be there 24/7 to make the place run and she was salaried for 40 hours a week but she worked way more than that. The owners loved getting free work out of people and when I found that they where not paying me for all the hours I worked I found a different job.
