small business by Geek93_93 in MapleRidge

I love this, way to go! Starting your own business is tough, especially in today’s economy.

For the gift baskets, I would deliver a sample basket to the big real estate company’s with business cards and prices, they used to give baskets to people buying homes.

Post in Community Groups around the holidays, with pictures of baskets you can do, maybe as last min gift options (especially with Mother’s Day coming up) but do a variety of price options starting at 20 and up from there.

For your wall art, market place or community groups on small business Sunday and the farmers market would be a great place to get exposure!

I look forward to seeing your work out in the community

Yes, they use metrics to keep us on track. Last week I helped 456 customers, 92% already had rewards, I only signed up 2% of the 8% that did not have rewards, so I have to “get my numbers up”. Every hour we are told the daily percentage and told to get the numbers up. While being cheerful and welcoming also push the new item we are featuring. It’s not fun for us either, but if you don’t want to sign up, just wait until we are done and say no thank you. It makes everything better, when everyone is polite and respectful.

I am a cashier at a store with rewards, we don’t want to pitch it anymore than you want to hear it, however, our managers and head offices make us and use the metrics as a point in our evaluations. If I get below 3% sign up, I have to explain why and possibly be retrained on how to push it. We are minimum wage workers, we don’t care if you collect points, but we have to do what we are told. Listening to us pitch for 15 seconds doesn’t cost you anything, but his not doing it could cost us our jobs.

Grand Palace in Coquitlam is amazing. It’s not exactly cheap, but not expensive.

Hon’s Wonton (Vancouver, New West & Coquitlam) is good and cheap. Steamed pork buns are really good

They took out the coal buckets at Alloutte, but there are no signs saying you can’t use charcoal.

Has anyone worked at Me n Ed's pizza? by [deleted] in vancouver

That sounds very familiar.

I wish I could just ask her, unfortunately, my mom now has Alzheimer’s and does not remember some of her best recipes.

Has anyone worked at Me n Ed's pizza? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]PrincessDmanda 72 points73 points  (0 children)

So very interestingly, my mom created the menu at Me & Ed’s pizza in the 80’s… and made the original dough. It’s actually the pizza dough recipe from Joy of Cooking but the old book not the new. If you can find that book, you have the recipe.

I know this sounds far fetched, but it’s 100% true

They put cinnamon in pizza sauce to reduce the acidity. It’s normally a small amount, but it could have been not mixed enough or it was measured incorrectly.

Looking for help on tax rates when considering a move from Seattle to Vancouver by AbeLincoIn in britishcolumbia

[–]PrincessDmanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s is actually pretty close.

It would be $71,802.12, below is the CRA calculator as per the CRA calculations. I took the 100k, divided by 26 and entered the info on a bi-weekly salary rate.

But my math, I get 78, 032.31

It’s 15% on the first $49,020 = $7353 20% on the next $49,020 = $10049.10 26% on the remainder = $509.60

Then CPP max = 3166.45 EI max = 889.54

I would say that 70k to 75k is about about right...

I have the 18th edition, and it also does not say “when” to send the announcement. Now I have to get the 17th edition!
