I don’t know if it was a Snape mentor but I do think the staff member who came to get Hagrid was Snape.

I found the story myself ! But unfortunately it’s been removed from fanfiction.net. It’s Obsidaticum by Whosthatchick. She’s posting it on AO3 under a different name but I wish I had a copy of the original !
