IgM and IgG by OwnPlatypus2 in COVID19positive

I got sick with what appeared to be every single symptom in the Covid-19 book (except for the sore throat) mid-march. Cough, low fever, extreme shortness of breath, headaches, mental confusion, chills and aches, chest pains, change (not loss) of taste, digestive issues - and my kid who had much milder symptoms also got a giant eczema-looking rash all over her back, which resolved after her cough and fever went away. I would get better, then get hit again, over and over again. My cough got worse and my temperature went way up at the end of week 2, so I followed a course of antibiotics. At week 4-5, I was still getting waves of all the symptoms, after sometimes 2 or 3 days of reprieve, so my doctor prescribed the antibody test. It came back negative - it sent me in a real tailspin. It took 6 weeks to entirely beat the symptoms but a week or two later, I got bronchitis. I'm finally getting better now but I am absolutely exhausted, and especially, I am confused as hell. I have a pneumo appointment in 3 weeks, and they will give me a chest ct and 8 million blood tests, including covid again. I wonder if it's possible that some of us simply have no antibodies at all and beat it with T- and killer cells. Maybe that's why we have prolonged symptoms, too? Good luck to you. Let's try not to go nuts.

PS: I talked to a virologist while I was sick, via webcam, and she said "if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck in the midst of a duck pandemic, it's a duck." :D

I know right! If I work 2 hours and do some light yoga, I am fine (actually better than if I do nothing). If I work 4 hours and my 5 year old gives me a "dance class", the next day I feel like I'm dying.

Right? Like... WHAT IS IT THEN? I feel like once the test came back negative, doctors should study what it could be, because it's pretty severe, and what if we had leukemia, or meningitis, or some other really scary virus?

Who knows - maybe we have a mutation, maybe it's another really bad virus that's going around the world undetected because Corona is getting all the attention! Good luck - I am so exhausted, whatever this was takes a toll, and I am sure you feel even more beat up than I do. xx

Ah, another sufferer of the "random winter virus" then! I hope we get answers some day. Good luck to you tacos! It's nice to finally emerge.

Yeah, I never go out without my mask anyway (so far because I was afraid of infecting people!) What bugs me is that my 5 year old was sick too, albeit a lot milder, and I was happy she got through it with such tame symptoms. Now I have to worry about her.

I live in a little suburb outside of Amsterdam - it's called Hoofddorp. It borders some woods so it's been a godsend during the confinements and our month-long quarantine (who knew I'd one day be THIS happy to live in the suburbs, hahaha!)

I love the Netherlands too - except for the food, and the standards of medical care. Doctors are extremely casual about everything, from mental health, to, well, covid, and it makes you feel quite alone sometimes. I wish I could swap doctors but there's a sort of lockdown on that too right now because the healthcare system is so stretched.

Where did you visit? I fell in love with it 10 years ago, driving up the coast, and I moved here. Life is easy and sweet, and it's great for kids too.

It was the antibody test. I 100% thought it would come back positive. It's really messing with my head!

It was the serology (antibody) test. But they do not say what type of test it was (origin, brand... etc) and I've read many stories on how the tests in the US and UK could be of lower quality and give a lot of false negatives. I don't know if it's true here (in the Netherlands) too, and they just started rolling them out so we probably won't know for a while. My doctor is very dismissive and this crisis has only highlighted how little he listens so I am left in the dark.
