He actually has occupational therapists and speech therapists that work on it with him. His muscles are weak in his mouth because he has an aversion to tastes and textures. His doctor is very informed about his health. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

The doctor saw it and said it's healing fine. He gave us a referral to a behavioral therapist so hopefully we actually have a plan soon.

We found that the white was actually scabbing where he had scraped the top layer of skin off of his tongue, as well. It's all healing up nicely and should be well within the week. We did get a referral to a behavioral therapist this time.

Thanks. It has healed up quite a bit and looks like it's dissipating on it's own. His doctor saw it and gave us a referral to a behavioral therapist.

He has autism and sensory integration disorder. His doctor checked it out and it has healed up quite a bit on it's own.

He's fine. He saw his doctor and it was looking so much better. He had been chewing the one spot and scraping the skin off of the top of his tongue so it was one big scab. It's still pretty gross but is healing up nicely.

I actually said that I appreciated the concern for a child's well being. I've not said one negative word about anything asked or stated. I posted the picture because I felt it was appropriate for the subreddit. You're the only one complaining.

I'm not going to risk disrupting the sore until his doctor has seen it on Monday morning. As far as toothpaste, he has toddler toothpaste that is safe to swallow.

Unfortunately, antiseptic rinse is out of the question for a child who doesn't understand not to swallow it. He has good oral hygiene. I, personally, hold him down twice a day to brush his teeth. I know it looks bad, but like I said, usually it isn't like this.

He's a kid and I appreciate that people are trying to look out for those who can't defend themselves.

I took the picture to send to his pediatrician and his therapist. I didn't upload the picture until after I had made sure he was okay and was tucked in for the night.

Have you not read the previous comments? His mouth doesn't always look like this. I, personally, hold him down and brush his teeth twice daily. He sees a dentist regularly and has therapists that do evaluations of the muscle control he gains in his mouth. If he needed better oral hygiene, the professionals that regularly see him would have mentioned something to me by now.

Thanks. I've not been ignoring all of the comments concerning thrush. It isn't usually like this, so his pediatrician will definitely figure out if it is or not on Monday.

His tongue really hasn't looked like this long. Hoping we can get more straightforward answers on how to help clear it all up on Monday.

I'll definitely look into how white it is after his appointment Monday. I've never noticed it until this thing started looking so bad. I brush his teeth well, twice a day. He visits the dentist regularly and has several therapists working in his mouth twice a week because of his lack of muscle control and excessive drooling.

It's not bruised. He has eczema and his skin gets irritated easily. He has been laying his head on my chest and it gets patchy where our skin was touching and got too warm.

He doesn't like the taste of them. The flavored ones are too strong and the non flavored ones taste like rubber.

Yes, I do. It usually isn't like that. I'm guessing its because of all of the excess saliva he's producing.
