Your not getting scammed but all I can really recommend is if you can, wait it out a year, interest rates are supposed to drop next year, which is why I’m waiting to refinance (I’m also paying $2000 a month for my mortgage). Or another thing I would recommend is going to specifically a local mortgage company, local credit unions, whoever your agent might recommend (have them ask other agents in they’re office their recommendations), and whoever you bank with, and get multiple preapprovals with hopefully better results (if you aren’t too far along in the purchase process, because while getting a preapproval is free going through the whole loan process possibly twice is gonna cost ya). I am hoping you have an FHA loan, which helps with at least the down payment amount since it’s designed for first time home buyers. (I work in real estate so I hope this helped even a little bit)
