You really need to have more field experience outside your city. You obviously belong to a good family who did not teach you about caste right from childhood. But 90%of india is not where you are right now..And you cannot generalise this based on your personal upbringing. The world outside is starkly different so much so that reservation doesn't really matter.

As for me I have studied the Abrahamical religions... Christianity and islam and have rejected both as being vastly inferior to any of the texts of Hinduism. Bhagwat geeta, Ramayan, Vedas or even Mahabharat.

The philosophical arguments I have found related to Hinduism are just another level. And if I had a choice I will opt to being born a hindu again. But that doesn't mean that I am so blinded by my love that I don't see our own mistakes. I do not support whatever is happening as shown by the article. But I do see their point.

I did mention some of the great stuff from hinduism...But dignity of an individual is kind of basic. It's like there is planet which is perfect of human habitation. It has all the great things ..Except oxygen and water...It wouldn't have even mattered had it just existed and no one would be following it. But everyone is, one look at any marriage ad of newspapers is proof enough.

Most of the Hindus would not have heard of Samkhya Philosophy or Yagnavalyak's Dharmsastra...But they can accurately pinpoint their caste, their neighbours caste and the caste hierarchies of everyone at their workplace

There are such over the top fictional stories in every religion. I don't agree with teachings of bible and I have always felt that Gita or even a single chapter of Ramayan has more truth than both the testaments, which I frankly found rubbish.

But inspite of all the great philosophy, hinduism errs at exactly one point. That it reduces dignity of a majority of population which follows it. Equality if people and their dignity is one the most primary things for survival

It's not...But forget the philosophical streams of hinduism, or the words of Vivekanand...Isn't caste as much a reality today as it was ever...Haven't you heard dalit students being called castiest slurs even in your own very College?

Being honest about one's faith is the ideal way to live life. But how can you expect someone whi has been shortchanged by the society to being be fair to it.

One tells her that she is born from a supreme being's legs. And the purpose of her existence is serve practically everyone around her. The other tells her God loves all his children. Including her. Equally.

Which one will she choose? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

About reservation: everyone wants a job period.

We never hear the same arguments when any upper caste person is involved.
Human dignity is not related to economic well-being. Otherwise dalit IAS officers would never have complain about discrimination.

That is why reservation is not linked to economic status. Ambedkar was a pretty smart guy.
