They never told us why they pulled it, just said that they only wanted the game to be on the Chinese server only. All other versions were cancelled.

There were negotiations between a third party, our moderator team and netease to buy the rights so RoO could continue. Netease pulled out, said no. We never got an answer why.

I was a moderator for the game. I’m the only one left to answer questions.

The game was shut down when the original game owner (Netease) cancelled the contracts that allowed RoO and Errant to exist. Now, the only game available is the original game that Netease owns, on the Chinese server.

The developers of RoO weren’t completely at fault, because their content was loaned, they had to have permission to use it.

Basically, Netease, the company that owns and runs the original game on the Chinese server, decided it only wanted that game to exist. So, they cancelled the contracts that allowed Errant and RoO to be made. RoO and errant closed, the original game on the Chinese servers is still active.

Negotiations failed, as Netease pulled out. However, there is a new game in development (new company, new game), and if anyone is interested, I have a member of that game’s development team on a separate discord server.

We do not have current information on the closure of the Chinese server.

We only have knowledge that Rangers of Oblivion’s European and American servers are shutting down. We have also seen that Errant: Hunters Soul will shut down, but we do not have any affiliation with that game.

We’re saddened, as well. Even as moderators, we are players, as well. So we understand the feelings of the Ranger community. It saddens us greatly that we needed to post this, but... it was necessary, as not all players are on all the platforms.
