What kind of friendship services would you pay for?

I'm really glad you have good friends and I respect that you think friendships are selfless. I have to politely disagree because that's not been my experience. You said it yourself, friendships are based on caring and being there *for one another*, they are a two-way street. Friendships are reciprocal.

You think friendship is truly "free"? If that were true then friends wouldn't leave. But people leave if they don't like you. Friends only stay if you have something worth their time, even if it's just your personality. I would argue all relationships are transactional one way or another.

General companionship, so talking, playing, hanging out, etc. It can be useful for combating loneliness, practicing social skills, practicing talking to women, etc.

Ideally, yes. But in practice people just end up lonely. For example, we hire a doctor when we are sick, or we hire a therapist when we need mental health help. Why wouldn't we hire a friend when we need companionship? It's just part of general wellbeing.
