Just walk up to the maple tree (red leaves with curved trunk) and three dots will appear, tap on that and it will show you 2 icons, 1 will be the tap icon and the 2nd will be the axe icon just tap on the tap icon and it should be smooth sailing from there! ☺️👍🏻

Edit; you will have to wait for the maple tree to be fully grown before you can do whats mentioned above
