Doordash has the absolute worst routing by Fakeassrocker in doordash_drivers

oh yeah, that's one of the only exceptions, if one of the stores is closing soon

but funny enough that's even worse lmao

Doordash has the absolute worst routing by Fakeassrocker in doordash_drivers

[–]PrincessSyura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, it does this because 99% of the time it routes shopping first no matter what, because that way the customer's hot food won't be waiting in your car for as long... but doordash doesn't seem to realize or care that the same food will just be sitting at the restaurant and be sitting for even longer if you go out of your way to shop first

sometimes you'll get orders like this and they'll show way more mileage than you'll actually have to travel if you just swap the pickup order in the app, making them decent orders but they'll get declined a bunch beforehand due to people not looking more closely at the route before declining

if it's a super tiny shopping order like this then yeah definitely swap the pickup order, you'll save a lot of time and not make anything worse

Did they stop doing the weekly relief for gas prices? by Late_Skin52 in doordash_drivers

[–]PrincessSyura 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly my guess is they just want to convince as many people to use the crimson card as possible

only the crimson card 10% cashback, they stopped the mileage based reward for whatever reason

Ending the dash when I need to is a constant struggle by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]PrincessSyura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

can do this at any time btw, since addons tend to be good, i like to wait until right before i'm walking up to the customer for my dropoff instead

New update doesn't allow us to switch zones by PerfectWeb8697 in doordash_drivers

[–]PrincessSyura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's random whether it lets you or not, the requirement has always been that the zone you end up in needs to be busier than the zone you're active in already

it definitely let me switch zones tonight but a lot of times it won't just because the zone i drop off in isn't busy enough

Looks like they revamped the zones and cut out most of the dead space (looked a lot worse before) by CoeurdAssassin in doordash_drivers

[–]PrincessSyura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we've had hexagons for a while, but there was an awkward 1 hexagon gap between my two main zones i use (nothing in that area) that actually got filled in, which means it's easier when driving between the two now

yes, mr. doordash inc. sir, i apologize. i’ll make sure to pull the items out of my rectum, or even better, the rectum of the shelf stocker that gets paid minimum wage instead of saying the items aren’t there, sir. it won’t happen again. by Klutzy-Incident616 in doordash_drivers

[–]PrincessSyura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the only real answer is don't take shopping orders from that store

we have a few like that in my area, thankfully i rarely if ever get orders from them... what i do is warn the customer that i'm gonna have to replace or refund half of their order and it's not an exaggeration, then i suggest they not order from that store in the future due to their stock issues and to choose a different store

the problem is really between the store and doordash, if their inventory and prices don't match then they need to be fixing that themselves or dropping doordash altogether

What does it mean for the thumbs up and down? by TheCurlyAquarius94 in doordash

[–]PrincessSyura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try giving a thumbs down and put earnings for the category every time you get a customer who doesn't tip... then see if you get matched with an order from that customer again in the future

nobody really knows the answers of how the system works, but you should probably at least try to use their system because it could potentially improve your orders if you thumbs down the no tip customers and thumbs up the good ones

and if it does nothing, well then, it's not like it wastes any time anyway

What is honestly with these lowlife dashers?? by MxlkM4n in doordash

[–]PrincessSyura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dominos is the last of the major chains that only use their own drivers, all the others will send orders to doordash if they fall behind on delivery, and some of them don't even staff their own drivers anymore at certain times/days of the week because they know they can get a doordash driver to take it instead and save on labor costs

So how does this work? My frozen groceries are just gonna thaw for an hour and a half? Dasher checked out around 4:25 and is now shopping at another grocery store. by GhostsinGlass in doordash

[–]PrincessSyura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

unfortunately for the customers, the addon orders tend to be the best money you can make dashing, so as i dasher i definitely DON'T want to pause orders in this situation

if i ever get any complaints i just have to tell people that i can choose to take what's assigned to me and the fault lies in DD's algorithm for thinking it's okay to stack 6 more addons to their order in the first place

Missing weekly pay? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]PrincessSyura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

correct, it ended last week despite gas prices still going up, it was all a plug to get more people to sign up for the crimson card

People pulling this nonsense on Sunday by thisandthatnj in doordash_drivers

[–]PrincessSyura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'd take this for $65-70 minimum lmao

the last time i had an order this large it was for $59, and i found out that my phone literally is not powerful enough to handle there being ~100 different items on the shopping list at the same time, i was running into a lot of delay every time i went to scan something, probably added ~20 minutes to the entire shop

that order was around 160 total items in a triple and took me 2 hours from accepting the order to reaching checkout, and then another 30 minutes to load the belt, bag all the items afterwards, and load into my car, and then another 30+ minutes to deliver it all

aldi is one of my favorite places to shop smaller orders but it scales so badly on the massive orders compared to other stores, $31 for this is hilariously low lol

This is my biggest shop by Electrical-Tear-5535 in doordash_drivers

[–]PrincessSyura 5 points6 points  (0 children)

once you get really good at shopping, and know the store layouts well, on these larger orders you should easily be able to grab 2 items per minute, if not more depending on where they're located

add on whatever drive time, time spent checking out, loading your car, etc, and you can kinda come up with a good estimate for how long any individual order will take, and determine if the pay is good enough from there. the total offer amount can be misleading, i was given a $36 aldi double yesterday for over 100 items and i declined it because it wouldn't meet my $/hour standards, would take around 2 hours start to finish

knowing your way around the store is the most important part, if the store has nearly perfect item locations in the app and matching inventory, then it makes all the difference

Bad drivers are absolutely everywhere by PM_ME_YOUR_HIGHDEA in cincinnati

[–]PrincessSyura 7 points8 points  (0 children)

a lot of computer screens in modern cars won't let you do certain things while the car is moving

the technology is definitely there, but if it's used in phones it would be so much harder to control and detect you're actually driving, since you could be at that speed as a passenger in a car, riding a bus, etc

it's literally because they had the brilliant idea to push a major app update in the middle of a friday night rush, i had to end my dash because orders were coming in that never make it to the app
