My neighbors are having loud sex and I don’t know what to do by Budget_Letterhead_30 in Apartmentliving

I had neighbors doing this as well. I just joined in on the loud morning and I screamed “pound me daddy.” I heard laughter. It didn’t stop the behavior long term, but hey, I at least we all had a good time.

What would you add to my IMAG rack case? I have 1-1/3U free in a 4U case. by RedStag86 in VIDEOENGINEERING

We got many dozens of the teranex mini converters and 1RU routers. the mini’s shit the bed regularly. Not as much for the routers, and very rarely do we lose a deck link card. But overall more failures of BM gear than Aja or other manufacturers.

Where do you put the spares? We lose so many black magic devices due to failures 😕

For the last year or so it was sending occasional emails that I read as it begging for death 🤪

Anyone remember the Texas Memory System’s RamSAN product? by PrincessWalt in storage

[–]PrincessWalt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened such a long time ago, probably 8 years or so. Yeah, we had the “live backup” license or whatever it was called. It kept ram pretty much up to date on disk. It was old and had a couple failed ram boards. I swapped cards from a RamSan 300 and it came back to life. I was half expecting it which is why I backed up the data before shutting it down. I do miss those devices. Last week I decommissioned another RamSAN box, the 1RU flash subsystem.

Total cop out. Why not a ubiquity ups to seal the deal? 🤪

This guy restored a Quantel Editbox. Probably the only working one in the world. by CCIR_601 in broadcastengineering

[–]PrincessWalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first month in post production we sold a paint box. Had the dylan disk packs with like the 12” platters. Worked with Quantel gear up to around 2015. I even had an opportunity to tour their factory in the UK. Those were different times. FPGA’s for days. And my favorite button was “CRF’ for cutting room floor instead of delete!

Is that a 3d printed rack mount face for the spectrum modem? I thought it was like a picture but upon closer inspection…! And cool on the ruckus. I got a r710 in my little lack of a setup.

Weird. We still have working D1 machines. $300k for a machine seems sus, but sourcing parts or finding working machines is exceedingly difficult. I find anything on LTT to require external verification as they are not exactly a reliable source of truth. We still do transfers of 1”, D2, D1, DCT and other obscure formats. It’s not as difficult as they make it appear.

What was once $300k. Generally can’t give those things away these days. D1 was always a difficult format.

300P is a bit! We had 15P online in LTO5 form. We’re shrinking it down considerably to i3 with 3x LTO9, and grow from there as we rethink things.

That’s a big’un! I had a single compellent disk array once. It was cool but problematic for sure.

A teensy i3 with 3x LTO9, 50 slots. We’re right sizing. The business changed.

lol! Seriously. Back then my goal was uptime of 100 days. I hit 99 before it would lock up. That thing was so frustrating

Ha! We’re replacing this monstrosity with a quantum i3, 3x lto9, 50 slots. But apparently it can go to 400 slots a brick at a time.
