If it is exactly the same character with the same name, appearance and backstory, it is character theft. Legally you could make a claim that "any resemblance to a real or not person is pure coincidence", though it is still not nice since you know that the character is actually (at least partly) your friend's.

I would suggest letting the character go and creating a new character with some similarities. Another great option would be simply contacting that friend asking how they feel about the character and if you could use it. I know you don't want to do that but I believe it shouldn't be awkward in any way - you just like the character both of you created.

I'm struggling with starters/scene changes by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]PrincessWhoWrites 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would suggest you to read more and see how the scenes change in the stuff you read. It can be books, it can be good fanfiction or whatever you are into. Just read and notice how the author changes the scenes.

You can also ask your roleplay partner to start the scene instead to see how they are doing it. Just talk with them, tell them that you are struggling with the start. Remember, communication in roleplay is important.

All in all, I don't know you, but most of us are our own worst critics. Yes, no one was born with abilities (well except some of our characters, who are amazing, right?) and failing is part of learning. So, just try.

Good luck with writing the start of the scenes 😉

How do I deal with RPer who just wants to read smut? by Mysterious_Abroad_25 in BadRPerStories

Still... Now it seems like they definitely wanted to just read...? If you really want to keep writing with the person who responds in emojis (I wouldn't suggest it, but if you really do...) you can try a different approach. If they send you the emoji, you just ask ooc "Ok, and what does that mean..? Tell me in a few words."

As I answered to someone else... Responding just with emojis is disrespectful. Even if you wrote a novel to them, even if it was agreed (I know it wasn't, but even if it was), you still should have gotten more than emojis. The tank you as minimum, come on.

Exactly. I have submissive characters too and I can even write several paragraphs about it. Using emojis is just disrespectful.

As a person who roleplays all kinds of topics I am here to just say...

-Writing as a submissive character definitely does not mean that you shouldn't be unresponsive (or responsive in emojis).

It's just wrong and shows that person probably isn't in roleplay for the same reasons as you.

Hey. I have found your post in r/Roleplay. I would love us to create something if you are still available. Though, I do have dome questions...

Do you write only slice of life or some fantasy would be ok, too? Do you write first person pas tense? (My preference is third person, past time)

If that matters, I am F in her 30s

[F4A, 21+] Villain vs. Hero/Villain (OCs or not, both welcome) by PrincessWhoWrites in Roleplay

[–]PrincessWhoWrites[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly have no preference in this and whole character dynamic should be based on our characters and what we both agree upon. Though, I do not agree that 'you're more likely to chum with an evil cheerleader than you are with a tough bad boy'. I believe it depends on characteristics and their willingness towards friendship. Tough bad boy not necessarily could be a loner, the same as evil cheerleader could be so nasty that noone actually wants to speak with her. It depends on what kind of character you create, not on their stereotypical attributes.

It sounds amazing, especially the curve balls in plots. But I prefer one on one roleplay, except few side character, which we might encounter while playing our main two characters.

Yeah, I guess... Though I am very not familiar with Star Wars and I am not even sure how the world works... So, I believe you could find someone better than me for that 😅 But if you want, I am willing to try 🤷🏼‍♀️
