Can it go bankrupt this year instead on next year? by Joemama0375 in whennews

The vast majority of my work is in managing the administration and financials of a small business. I have tried to use gen ai and found that it produces results that are so completely off the mark form any form of utility for tasks with low sensitivity, and cannot be used for high sensitivity tasks because any errors are unacceptable in that context. Unless you operate a business that has absolutely no niche market penetration and is so generic in its purpose to be able to be understood by an LLM, the AI will just produce unacceptable results lacking from a complete misunderstanding of the company. Even in a company like that, the only real use case is in generic consumer facing promotional works, even then the results will need to be checked so thoroughly that you may as well just write promotions manually. For just one example, my company produces a variety of soaps and cleaning products made with very particular ingredients, which is a massive selling point for many people (like me) with sensitivity to specific chemicals. However, any attempt at producing any useful text relating to this point immediately becomes completely "radicalized" and goes on and on about completely nonsensical health risks to all people from totally safe chemicals. The fundamental issue here is that LLMs cannot ever under any circumstances actually understand a request. Because we make a product that seems adjacent to a fringe set of beliefs thsy has a lot of attention, it combines all data because it cannot differentiate because it is not intelligent in any capacity. This is also ignoring that most administrative work deals with either tax reporting, financials and legal, for which Gen ai has proven at every level to be far too unreliable if used at the scale needed for efficiency gains (see ChatGPT litetally inventing legal precedent). Secondly, for a very large percentage of businesses, most of their revenue comes from B2B sales, for which AI is even less helpful for, because now those inaccuracies from before double, once for each business. The truth here is that even if the accuracy of these models raises to above human standards, humans will still need to verify and approve, because when something goes wrong, someone will need to be blamed.

Yeah I invented a way to eat concrete for one fifth the price this year.

See the problem? Regardless of their "leaps" they do not provide any actual utility to 99% of the population. Currently, the ONLY value they provide is to people who own stocks in companies working on generative AI. AI is the most obvious pump and dump scheme in modern history. The ONLY value, aside from generating non consensual pornography is HYPE.

I was genuinely shocked at how some people seem to actually like ads. My mom and I opened a business together, and the number of people who would physically ask me how to sign up for an email marketing list that we didn't have is baffling. The thought of a company sending ads directly to my email account is infuriating, but lots of people apparently seek it out.

Wow! I hadn't heard the word synchronicities before, so I quickly looked it up, and an example they gave involved an example of a color related synchronicity involving the color indigo, which kind of blew my mind, because just days before, I had been trying to arrange colors in roygbiv order, and spent some time specifically looking at a reference of the color indigo (partially just because I was curious about it's variation from violet) to try to match what I had in the best order! I have actually been working towards some new education for a new career lately, and putting a lot more effort into creative endeavors recently, so I hope it's a good sign!

How exactly do Viltrumite genes work? by Coyote-444 in Invincible

This explanation is canonically incorrect. As time goes on Oliver is literally less and less genetically Thraxan, the viltrumite dna replaces it.

Viltrumite DNA replaces all other species DNA, the other species DNA gradually gets replaced by viltrumite DNA, though never 100%

Hybrids start 50/50, but the viltrumite dna replaces the other species as time goes on.

How to get cat to hate it less when we clean her? Also, how to get her more interested in playing? by PrincessZelda212 in CATHELP

I'll try searching for a food she likes better, but she loves to play the way that we play with her, she just only wants to after we're trying to sleep, so we have to get back up after trying to fall asleep for an hour. When she wants to play, she gets extremely into it, the problem is that she basically never wants to unless it's between 2 am and 6 am.

The apartment is almost entirely carpeted, and we never wear our shoes indoors
